Has anyone seen a Firehawk

I am wondering just many many around here have actually seen one and if it was driven or at a show. I am looking for a red one with no roll bar because they delete the rear seats (ugly) and my formula now is small enough inside without the bars to be in the way. Andy

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

I hae seen # 1, 6, 24 & 26... 1 & 26 was at SLP neither of them had the roll bar, #6 I cant remember without looking at my pix, and #24 I do not believe Bruce has the bar either...

So to answer your initial question, Yes I have actually seen them. to answer your second question, I have not seen one in person with the bar.

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

I've seen the green one that Bruce @ Hawk's used to own. I've also seen that silver greenish one with the 383, and red one too, but I can't confirm the authenticity of the red one. It had decals, R15s and the T-Ram, but who knows if it was real.

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

Bruce got rid of his dark green one, wow! You guys are lucky, I have not, but being down in Miami, I guess I never will until I get one.

I was excited about the Barret Jackson thread on Firehawk message boards with 3 of them going there a few years back, they are here this week and everyday I have been checking to see if one pops up on the list, oh well! Andy

I have seen a handful of them.

Check out www.firehawk.org for any questions. Some of the first gen Hawk owners post over there.

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

I have seen a few too.
Got some press info from SLP back when they were new.
Look for the video on them, it's pretty cool!
The video pops up every so often on ebay.
Maybe some day..................

The rumor came from him posting it for sale a few years back on his site. I thought he still had it as well.

I've seen only one in person and that is when they were new.It was red one,I don't know the serial number, and on display in Charleston SC at a Pontiac/GMC dealer.I was looking at trucks and just happen to be there at the right time.I don't remember if it was a customer car or just on display.

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

My dad has a friend that used to work for a chevy dealership back in the day and he has a collection of various third gen models. Like he has the irocz with the police package, he also has a firehawk i think the # is 21 and its like a pearl white or such.he also has an exact replica of the bandit car. some 69 cams and a few 70's firebirds. The mann has a lil cash flow if ya know what i mean. i dont talk to my dad much but i may be able to get a pic of his friends firehawk.

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

I spoke to him, very nice guy. He also has #3 and they are stored. I just do not think a third gen is worth 30k plus, sorry, but that is just the market.

I would jump at one if it were around 20k- 25k depending on it's condition. I just a red 350 that was on eBay last week with 16k miles. I plan on buying that for now as I can not stand the dam 305 I currently have. Just gotta buy another set of the red trim R15's.

My neighbor just traded his 2003 Z06 for a used 2006 Z06, man that thing is killer! That is the only car I like besides the third gen Formula. Andy

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

I see plenty of 4th Gens. As far as 3rd gen Firehawks, I saw one, it was red, and I think it had a roll bar and a race harness. This was back in 92 or 93, near Baltimore, when I had my '82 Recaro T/A and I thought man I wish I had one of those. I really had no idea what I was looking at, at the time.

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

Guys, I gotta think ANY third gen firehawk is worth $30 unless it's a total mess. An 87 GTA went for $30k on BJ and it wasn't even stock.

I'd hop all over any decent third gen hawk south of $30k....there's only 25, the car is 15 yrs old and had a sticker of at least $40k new. It's the pinnacle for third gen's and the real start for SLP. (however, I might be a little biased)

Please, if anyone knows were one is setting for less than $25 I'd seriously like to talk to the owner.

There were practically just as many Hemi Cuda Verts made between 70 and 71....no one wanted them when new...... Now you can't even buy a legit vin and trim tag for under $1mill... (Before the flames start, I know they are not quite the same.)

#2 did sell for around $25K last year, at least thats what he was asking for it...

In some ways your not off base,
1) both the Cuda and the Firehawk are limited production
2) I am not sure how much more the Cuda vert was over a regular cuda, but I cannot imagine it was more than twice the price, like the Hawk. So in that regard it may have more potential
3) The Cuda was a vert... Every car I have ever seen with value, IE the late 60's CAmaro & Firebird, chop the top off and the price skyrockets... Price ofa perfect 69 TA- around $300K.
4) THe beauty of this is in many respects because the value of the Firehawk and the values of the TTA it will pull the value of the rest of our cars upwards. Moreso than if the Hawk & TTA did not exist. In the same way the early 70's Mopar really did not skyrocket until the value of the Cuda vert went off the charts, now anything Mopar is top dollar from the era... The example of the 87 GTA is a good one, albiet BJ is not a great arena for placing a price tag on a car, it is a reasonable indicator of things to come.

Thought I had more of the Firehawk but could only find when it was getting parked. It ran extremely crappy, barely able to keep running. Something electrical was wrong with it but they didn't care because nobody would know and it was roped off anyway.

This was a pretty cool event. Lots of cars that GM brought also: Live Aid IROC, Banshee(sp?), GTZ, 25th Anniversary that wasn't...among others.

No it's not. That's just car #026 and it's Dark Jade Grey Metallic, NOT Medium Quasar Blue like that one you are thinking of...

I have seen a few Firehawks in excellent condition in my area for 20- 25k, under 80k miles. If you watch Auto Trader online for Orange County, CA. you will eventually find one. It`s no Firehawk but I just bought an original `88 Iroc Z28 (except low mile 383)in excellent shape for 3k and it runs excellent and needs nothing.

Re: Has anyone seen a Firehawk

I saw a red thirdgen once when I worked at the Car auction. It was not being sold, just there looking so pretty. I don't know the number but it was in 2005 in Alsip, Illinois AAA Auctionway. It was pristine. I am not a big Firebird man but ths caught my breath. I would pay $30, 000 instead of buying any new car I can think of.

I remember them new in dealers, I at one point could verify 2 here in chicago area in high school.

And I think 99% of the folks here would trade you any 3rd gen Camaro for any of the 3rd gen firehawks without thinking twice... I know I would...

nonetheless thats why they had the Camaro and the Firebird, different strokes for different folks, not one car is ideal for everyone... Pontiac tried that one with the GTO in 2004-2006 and that was a huge success...

Just a few cars in my collection. I'm selling the 93 1LE at the Leake Auction this weekend and wanted to get a picture of them all together before it sold.

That's a very nice collection! I had my checkbook with me a couple years ago to buy #026 and the consigner would not come down a dime from $32k. I thought they were nuts, they even raised the price, then eventually sold it south of $30k as they should have in the first place in the condition it was in. Looks like you or the nice gentleman who bought it before you have done some work to restore it properly.

T_towner,
No offense but I do not believe you own #26 in that picture above, unless you JUST bought it...

Hey John, I JUST bought it from Sam in May. Drove it 1,200 miles back to Oklahoma and had the trip of our life. That car is a freakin beast!

I had a look at the hp and tq figures on this car when it was in California. The tune was mediocre - unless Sam had another tune done you need to connect with a good tuner like Jeff Creech. Then you will find out what a beast really is!

No offense but the goats were a tremendous success. Maybe not a volume sales leader, 42K cars in 3 years, but they weren't intended to be. Because of that car, GM is bringing over the G8 and also the new Camaro, among other cars down the pipeline. Holden seems to be taking the lead all over GM.

The car goes to Ed Wright at Fast Chip for a tune this Thursday. He did an incredible job on the tuning w/ #6.

26 doesn't run bad, but it definately could use a good tune.
