BS1 Quiet Sound Group - what was in the group?
Restoring an 86 Z28 with only a few options. The QSG is one of them. Anyone know what this package contained?
Z is a LG4/5spd.
Options are (from memory)
-tinted glass
-cass. player
-front/rear mats
-rear power hatch
-a/c
-cloth standard seats (upgrade from vinyl - one piece design)
-white letter tires
-Quiet Sound Group
- T-tops
Bought from original owner - car was ordered, but he cannot remember a few options (older gentleman).

Tarheel if you look in the console you'll find the SPID(Service Production Information Decal).First make sure the VIN on the decal matches the VIN of your car. This will have all the RPO's that came on the car.
RPO-BS1 includes extra sound deading in the door panels and other interior panels. It was included when the custom interior was ordered.

yeah, the SPID is where i found the option BS1. Kind of interesting it was ordered without the custom interior and so few options. Rare to see a 85-87 Z28 or IROC not loaded with options.
My other two z28s had at least 30 options each. I love not having power windows...doors are much lighter.
thx

For what its worth, the weight of a PW motor is so minimal, I highly doubt that is what you're feeling when you shut the door. Could it be your other cars had poor door hinges versus this one? I've changed out a couple window motors...they're pretty light.
With that said, lately its kinda funny I've been seeing more and more IROCs and Zs with just the basics. When these cars were more common 10 years ago, I almost never saw a crank window Z...now I've seen a couple just on eBay recently!
Its sad to think my 10 year high school reunion is this Spring, and all the third gen fun I've had since then, but its also sad to think about all the third gens that were on the road then that are long gone now. My HS graduation present was an '89 RS I grew up with. 10 years later, this Spring will see the end of the restoration of my '91 RS that I've owned for 2 years. I love these cars
