How to know if an IROC was stolen?
Saturday, i'm towing home a 1986 IROC which does not have a title. Guy/owner says it's been sitting since 1995. State inspection sticker says May/05.
The RPO sticker is ripped and unreadable. Don't have the VIN yet.
Price is super low and the car is all orginial...TPI, T-tops, auto, 4 wheel disc, etc.
I'm buying the car for parts, but after seeing pictures, i may pursue obtaining a new title and restoring it.
I want to know if it's stolen before i move forward with the new title.

Carfax, or similar.... that's one of the FEW things it's really dependable for...... or even, just call up one of your friends in your local police dept and have em run the VIN.

CARFAX & Autocheck.
NOTE: Avoid places like govt-files.com they have nothing for $39.95 a complete scam, you pay for nothing more than to find liks to free sites or other sites where you have to pay like CARFAX.

I would call your local Police/Sheriff dept. and have them run the VIN, if its reported stolen it will show up on NCIC. It will not cost a dime and it would give you peace of mind.
