Re: 1984 PONTIAC TRANS AM at Barrett-Jackson Oct. 2008

She is a beautiful T/A but I love the salesman pitch of the Barret-Jackson. But technically the exhaust doesn't make her all original. It's interesting she has no power accessories beyond brakes and steering - and no tape deck either. looks like whoever ordereded her was trying to save weight but still opted for A/C. I hope she makes the TV coverage so we can watch the bidding.

The front bumper inserts have been painted body color. They should be black.

Re: 1984 PONTIAC TRANS AM at Barrett-Jackson Oct. 2008

The car is very clean, a nice looker...

However... Woodgrain Dash, not original...

I also noticed that the Front bumper has a funny indent on the Passenger side right in front of the fender... It may have been off the car... not a biggie, but I noticed it...

Re: 1984 PONTIAC TRANS AM at Barrett-Jackson Oct. 2008

interior..

Did I miss something... Where are any drivers side pix?

I thought the painted bumper inserts were an option... Or was that only on the Anniversary car?

I have seen plenty with painted inserts. Did all the owners paint them on the ones I've seen?

Re: 1984 PONTIAC TRANS AM at Barrett-Jackson Oct. 2008

The solid style inserts should be black on everything except the 15th T/A (white) and the 83 DT500 (Charcoal).

They were part of the W62 package. (Ground effects)

It is very common to see them painted body color, but it is not original. It can usually be attributed to the owners choice to paint them, or a lazy body man.

Here's what the auction results as I had hoped but didn;t think they would make the TV coverage and not even the live feed. First is the red and then the DT500,

Mine were never black. They have been blue since it was built.

Those prices seem reasonable, especially for a Barret-Jackson event.

Re: 1984 PONTIAC TRANS AM at Barrett-Jackson Oct. 2008

I counted 19 67-69 Camaros in that lineup... ZERO 3rd Gen Camaros

What I think is interesting is the prices have really dropped even on the 1st Gens... BUT the 3rd Gen's seem to have gotten about what they were new...

here is the pic of the Pace car...
