Re: How old are you?
Hey there! I'm 44, in Thunder Bay, Ontario,CANADA... and I'm just about to start a new 1985 Z-28 project. (check out project car pics. on my site here: Dodgeismo . I am also a new member, mechanically inclined, do my own body work and paint (jack of all trades) probably just like you are. Besides...don't matter how old you are,.. it's how old you feel! When your working on your machine, you're always 18 my man...but remember,...even thogh we have decades of refined automotive experience under our belts, don't have to flaunt it!...keep em stock..(or at least close to it..) ENJOY IT! . Dodgeismo(I used to be Chevyismo,..but they took it away...?)

The car's not in that bad shape.., but i'm looking to strip it down, change to a 4th gen seating arrangement, ext.: frame connectors, new suspension, ployUr.. bushings, new rubber(re-doing iroc rims), exhaust(custom after frame connectors installed),...etc. etc. etc.. get where I'm coming from? anyway,..I'm in Thunder bay, Ont. Canada. Ismo(Finlander name, if curious...)

But,..I do order / have ordered parts from the states, re: Summit, JC whitney(my '74 Cutlass carpet), do you have web site showing your stuff and do you carry the almost dicontinued 1LE 12" brake system everyone is talking about on TGO?

Re: How old are you?
I am 38 and I have had a lot of cars. I used to have a 76 TA but I never owned a Camaro until just recently. I always thought the 3rd gens were over rated because when I was in high school back in the eighties, it seemed everyone had one. However, there is something about mine I just like. Its definately not a show car but I like it. And now parts are pretty easy to get but you don't see quite as many on the road as you used to. I will enjoy fixing mine up.

Re: How old are you?
I know what you mean...I went to high school in the early eighties, and everyone had one. That's why I never got 1,...I went a different route, 1974 monte Carlo, 1974 Olds Cutlass "S"(350 Rocket), 1971 Lemans Sprt Coupe, 4x4 trucks, dirt bikes(1982Suzuki RM 125 & 1986 250). But I always admired thier lines/looks, and wanted, one day to get one. Well,...now I'm 44 yrs. old/young, and have restored/built 24 vehicles I've kept /drove myself through the years, and my dream has now been realized...I woke up at 5:30 this morning and looked out the window and saw my new Z sitting there...Ismiled like a kid!, made my morning coffee, went out & checked it over for the next 5 hours!...my wife isn't too happy, but..@%#* her,...I am!. ..(p.s. I did have a n '87 Camaro for 8 days 3 yrs. ago,..but it was too rusty...let it go for $300.

I'm just a "junior" member who's learning the ropes on this forum, but I think all you guys are great, and am very much enjoying reading all the vast info available. Wonder if I could do my whole build project with strictly info I get from TGO ?...I believe I CAN! Thanks to everyone in advance, and I'm looking forward to a long term stay here at 3rd Gen.

Re: How old are you?
Hello I'm 44, I'm in the middle of trying to rewire everything under the hood and almost got it to start 2 days ago..... last owner really did me a huge favor by butchering the wires. ***** [I finally Got it started last night, I guess wiring is just 1 of the things us 3rd gen gear heads have to know.. on top of mechanics, bodywork, welding... we are "jacks of all trades" people, I've been working with cars since I was 12, back in 1977! , my dad is a heavy duty, class "A" mechanic/ welder, *(retired now, he just turned 79 in April)*, who also did bodywork and was/ IS truly... a "jack-of-all-trades" guy..."happy fathers day to all the gearhead dads out there" !!!.

33 here and have been into 3rd gens since I was 18. I registered for this site about 14 years ago and dropped off the map for a few years and then I've been back for 8 or so. Great people, LOTS of knowledge especially from the older crowd (do I qualify for that yet? LOL).

Re: How old are you?
This tread is both hopeful and enlightning. Not only do we have great older people like Uncle Tom to inspire us, but we also have lots of young folks and even a few of the ladies involved in this hobby. That's inspiring also. If the hobby is to remain strong we need a constant influx of new blood. My 17 year-old nephew drives an Eclispe complete with a fart can and body kit. He's a good kid, but he and his friends are all ricers. This is a disturbing trend, but one to be expected, as so many 30 to 40 yearolds are import zombies. Some of the young ones were bound to fall into that trap! It's encouraging to see some teenagers and 20 somethings who are interested in American Muscle cars, especilly Thirdgen's. Thirdgen's play an important role for the muscle car hobby, as they provide a large number of affordable muscle cars for all of us. Everyone can't afford to own a 69 Camaro Super Sport.

Re: How old are you?
The little fellow in my signature pic is one of my grandsons. He will be four in August, and is already a Thirdgener. When he visits us, the first thing he has to do is go find the "blue car" say hi to it, and give it a hug. When he and his baby brother are older, we will do a grandson/father/grandfather thirdgen project. I can't wait!
