spolier/mirror paint

Does anyone have the paint code for the mirrors and spoiler for the 82/83 TA? From what I have found out they are a semi gloss black even on the black cars. Does it differ from the paint code for the body paint?

Re: spolier/mirror paint

Sorry I don't have the paint codes, but I think I can still provide some help. I purchased a 1982 WS4 Trans Am, and owned it until 1989 (when I bought my Formula 350). The (black) mirrors and the spoiler ARE a semigloss black. They were duller than the gloss black used on the lower quarters of my white T/A. The mirrors also may have been painted w/what they used to call "elastomeric" or flex paint, as opposed to the lacquer/acrylic which was used on the body. The bumper covers were also painted w/the flex paint, but again it was glossy. I doubt if they used elastomeric/flex paint on the spoiler, as it did not flex. I will also add that my black spoiler w/original paint was closer to flat black (than were the mirrors), and it tended to wipe off on the wax rag. The mirrors didn't do that. Hope this helps.

Re: spolier/mirror paint

If they are a semi-gloss black, buy yourself some SEM trim black paint... it is really close to being perfect... It is also the same color they used on the T-tops, and many of the under the hood pieces...

Re: spolier/mirror paint

Thanks for the replies. Since I am going with the original black and gold paint I might just paint the mirror and spoiler the same black just in a semi gloss. I think a gloss body and flat mirrors/spoiler would not look correct. Just wish I could find the original paint code.

Re: spolier/mirror paint

Being that you do not have an RPO sheet in your center console, it would probably be RPO 19?... But it may be a part of other RPO's like that would indicate to the dealer what color to paint the mirrors.
