**Painting Engine Bay**

Hi guys,
Just curious what paint has worked well with any of you. I want to do a flat black right before install the engine. (where im at now) And is there anything I should prep the engine bay with and clean with specifically before the painting?

Make sure to pre clean the hell out of it. Over the years, oils and anything with silicone has probably been all over the engine bay. Pre clean, pre clean, and pre clean, that way you have no fish eyes once you spray

Yeah for sure, ok thanks man. I'm gonna use a engine degreaser to clean it. Then scrub it with scotch Brite or 300 count sand paper to roughing the surface up. Then, wipe with alcohol to dry it out. After all that I'll paint it!

Cleaning is the worst part, but also the most important as mentioned earlier. I used Valspar's Tractor and Implement paint with no clear coat in my engine bay. I used the satin black, not sure if they have an actual flat black. I know it's not an "automotive paint" but it's much tougher and resistant to chips and scratches. I dropped wrenches and sockets several times while putting everything back in and they didn't leave any marks.
