1988 Camaro RS/SC Gunmetal Metallic QUESTIONS
Yo, I have been for about two hours now looking for stats on how many 1988 Rs Camaro's were produced in Gun Metal.
I already know that 8628 Total in 88' 'Maro's were
I'm just trying to narrow down how many RS's came in Gunmetal (87U) and possibly with the Silver (13S) ground effects.
And I also have a dual red stripe going down both sides of my car, and turn up right after the back of the window and then starts again right before the hatch and comes down and then shoots back to the spoiler. Is that Stock or a Dealer add-on?
Any links or just answers would really make my day
Thanks, Matt

Re: 1988 Camaro RS/SC Gunmetal Metallic QUESTIONS
The striping you describe is not factory. Striping was a popular dealer/aftermarket add-on in the 1980s.
I'm not aware of any breakout of color by trim level, but one way to "guesstimate" is that since 8,628 Camaros out of a total production of 96,275 (or 8.96%) were code 87 gray, that the same percentage of the 66,605 Sport Coupe hatchbacks were the same color - which would be about 5,968. Probably less, since there were more color choices available on the Sport Coupe than on the IROC in 1988.
My understanding is that all 1988 Sport Coupe models had the ground effects painted an accent color, not body-color as in later models. Not sure about the RS which was a regionally available package in 1988.

Paint it whatever color you want. It's not rare or worth any more because of the color. The Sport Coupe was the base model in 1988 and base models rarely bring a premium.
