I love it, too bad 91-92 firebirds have that god awful front end

Re: 1992 Firehawk advertising video you may not have seen...
I dunno - I used to think that, and the more I see them, the more I think they do fit. I never did care for the bumperette bumpers on the 87-90 Formulas.
...and after I got my '91, I started liking it even more... something about how sleek they look with the sleek front/rear bumpers and even the whale tail.
Again, I dunno - but it's definitely grown on me....
Not my car, but a good reference:

Re: 1992 Firehawk advertising video you may not have seen...
What's really interesting is that we are still talking about starting with a 3rdgen F-body platform here. We're not starting with an aluminum unibody or anything else... They started with the same platform we ALL have. That's really saying something about our cars and the overall platform... I mean, to be based on a flatform that was developed in the EARLY 1980's; to still be that competitive with the super cars of the early 1990s is quite impressive...

Ditto....I think the 91-92s are the best looking of the entire generation. I also like the 85-90s, but can't stand the way the 82-84s look. I agree with you on the bumperettes on the non-T/A 86-90s, they ruin the lines.

Re: 1992 Firehawk advertising video you may not have seen...
Have you seen "MNFormula350" 's car? He has a 1990 Formula (originally a "bumperette car"), and put 82-84 front and rear bumpers on it and it looks pretty good... If I had an 87-90 Formy, I'd probably want to do the same thing.

I like my bumperettes... if there was ever a word. Not a fan of the 91-92, but there acceptable.
Seen the Video before, The car is still impressive by todays standards really. And all third gens are "Slow".

bumperettes = love/ hate for most.
I have both. I think they each have their place.

Alright! Thanks! Try replacing the "bumperettes" black insert, they're almost gone! I like mine also.

I'm not quite sure where the 82-84 cars fall for me... I've seen some that look really good, but I can't stand the interiors/dash in them.
Its all subjective.

13.2... Umm, that's way better than a stock LT1, and comparable to LS1 in the later 4th Gens. They also released other engines that were quicker... #26 for example is a screamer.
The T-Ram and the LT1 intake have some very similar characteristics, although they look completely different, the all important length of the runners (if you call them that on the LT1) is similar.

Fastest Thirdgen ever built I think. It edges out the TTA in sheer trap speed.
High Performance Pontiac, issue October 1991.
0-60: 4.6s
1/4 mile 13.2 @ 107mph.
Curb Weight: 3,300lbs.
That was screaming fast in the early 90's.
I've been meaning to scan my collection of HPP. I have most of them from 85 through 93. Found them at a Swap Meet, paid like 25 cents an issue. He had them in milk crates. I figured I'd just buy the whole bunch. Got LOTS of good articles. Specialty bits on the Fiero's, every special edition thirdgen ever made including the Firefox prototypes pontiac did.

I will scan the Firehawk review article at work tomorrow.
Though it may end up being just in B&W unless I can get to the color scanner.
But here is the cover. Its a decent article on the Firehawk.

I wish I had the will power to throw out the 7 or 8 boxes of car magazines scattered around the house. All they do is kill storage space. Can't ever find the issue I'm looking for when it's relevant.

Re: 1992 Firehawk advertising video you may not have seen...
Too late now, the recycle guy came and took them all away I was saving some of them but I got tired of looking at them and I could not find (like you) what I was looking for. I wanted to scan in the 3rd Gen stuff, but most of it is already online, so it was ultimately a waste of my space to keep them any more. sa-la-vie
The thing that kills me is I had a bunch of old Motor Trend & Road & Track mags from the 80's and early 90's that had performance data in it that I lost... I can't for the life of me remember where it is... probably the dump, my wife probably got rid of it behind my back Now I am considering trashing my 3 years of Pool & Billiard Mags from 2001 - 2003...
How the heck did we get from Firehawk video to this?

Re: 1992 Firehawk advertising video you may not have seen...
Well, ya see... The thread started with a VHS tape that someone kept for 20 years before putting on Youtube. Then we started talking about old magazine articles, then how much of a PITA it is to keep all this stuff.
Awhile back I was looking for a GM Performance Parts catalog I bought in the late 90's. I sure don't remember throwing it out, but I remember tossing 20 years worth of Summit Catalogs. I seem to remember thinking catalogs from 10 years ago were useless since everything was discontinued now anyway. At the time I thought it was kind of neat to see what parts used to be available and what they cost then vs now, but in the end I decided I'd rather not have so much "luggage".

Don't you know you're supposed to donate old magazines/books to a library or school so that some young kid can get hooked? Sheesh.

I have every Road & Track from October 1993 - present, and many issues from 1987-89 as well. I know I have one that has a road test comparison between an IROC, GTA, Mustang GT, and I think maybe one of those pos Dodge Daytonas on the K-car platform. It was a very interesting comparison, particularly as it had both an LB9 5 speed car and an L98 car in it.

Check out page 36... At the end of the text it says "Continued on page 51". Usually that means the text continues in the back of the magazine.
It kind of stinks that no one has uploaded any new articles to the home page in 11 years. Is it that dead around here?

I will be honest it's been some time (year or so) so we've last been given some material. I have a few that didn't get posted because of a planned CMS upgrade at the time, but besides that, articles don't get submitted all that often.

There has been numerous uploads in the past 11 years as I've done them myself. The last date is 2000, but that is the date for the published article, not the date of the upload. I'm sure you knew this, but I've added that for clarification.

The last time I scanned a bunch of material was back when Dirk was still running the site, and it never got put online. Because of that I'm hesitant to waste my time scanning anything to submit. It seems like the majority never look at the resources on the home page anyway. The ever popular - "Why read and look for an answer when you can just post a question on the forum and get an answer?" - mentality. Instant gratification and all that.

Yep, sorry about that I wasn't very clear. I meant that the most recent article is eleven years old. Not that the last update was 11 years ago. Obviously there have been thirdgens in magazines since 2000, it's just a mystery (to me) why none of those articles show up here?

I've posted links to the information on the front page many times and people have wondered where it came from. Bit they see it every day, however they are only interested in the forum links, and learn to ignore the others not realising the information listed there.

$50k for the Brembo package in 1992????
As for the other question, I did submit the 1991 Michigan State Police B4C about a month or so ago but someone had mentioned that we have to wait a few months before we can upload the article.

I have a VHS tape of a Firehawk that was on a tv show with Don Garlits back in 1992. Some of the footage is the same as this video.
Is anyone familiar with that piece? Is it on this site already? I don't know how to make a video tape into a YouTube, but I'll do if we need it and someone gives advice on how to upload I will do it.

Re: 1992 Firehawk advertising video you may not have seen...
I seen this back in the day and way in Love or Lust as most people call it. Damn what a car. There was a FIREFOX that really lead up to this car and had even more ponies. none production prototype, seen in HI PERFORMANCE PONTIAC the black one that RUSTY WALLACE test drove in a issue was unreal. Also there was a twin turbo 700 plus ponies 600 plus torque was a red GTA black stripes . test cars. both were destroyed . Damn . Suppose to be a 92 version of the FIREFOX in GM s private collection, They on occasion show it according to some rumors . anyone post any more info please? want to see pics of 92 none found.
