85 firebird T/A Restoration
Iv been reading some of those other restoration's on here and decided its my turn. So im finally going to take the time to restore my 85 Trans am. I bought this car about 2 years ago for $1800. It is pretty solid for a Michigan car. I havent yet to find any bad rust most is just surface. The interior is beaten up some bad some not really. I have been slowly dismantling the interior but been set back a few times since i had to put the interior back in the car because i had to move. I am open to all opinions and any help anyone is willing to give, this is my first restoration so they would help allot. I will be posting progress along the way. Here are some pics from when i first got the car, i cant find my camera hence i just moved so everything is still in box's but when i find it i will post more pics of the car as it sit's.

What are you trying to do with this restoration? Do you want to set the car as close back to stock as possible? Or do you want to leave all the chrome and aftermarket parts under the hood, keep it this shade of blue, etc.?
If it were my car, I'd set it back to stock, but that would not be an easy feat on this car. I'm guessing you're not that concerned with being "correct" or you wouldn't have bought this car. I may be wrong as I don't know the earlier cars as well, but I don't believe that's a correct or original exterior color. I know the seats are wrong (look like they're out of a Camaro), obviously the white face gauges have been added, and the a/c compressor and pretty much everything else under the hood that's not necessary to make the car run looks to have been removed.
Most of the interior can be sourced from a junkyard. That will be your best bet as most of the parts are discontinued, and I'm sure you're on a budget as the rest of us are.

Re: 85 firebird T/A Restoration
well the other day when i took the rest of the interior out, i found some fiberglass patch's on the floor pans ect. so i took my wire wheel and proceeded to take it off. come to find out, its all bad rust under there. the floor bans are all rusted out and other areas bad. so since im not experienced with a welder or have any excess to get one so i cant go much farther with the restoration unless i find someone who can do it.
