1985 Trans am Restoration

So im finally going to take the time to restore my 85 Trans am. I bought this car about 3 years ago for $1800. It is pretty solid for a Michigan car besides the floor pans (rusted out). The interior is beaten up some bad some not really. I am open to all opinions and any help anyone is willing to give, this is my first restoration so they would help allot and im still in high school so its kind of a budget build. I will be posting progress along the way. Here are some pics as the car sat a week ago. p.s. i know someone will point out the for sale sign lol after almost a month of trying to sell it i decided to keep it.

Re: 1985 Trans am Restoration

she has a 350 with a 700r4. The car is at my schools shop right now so i could check it out some more.
i plan to keep the car as original as possible but who doest like to do some customization haha put really the only thing not original will be the engine and trans, paint and interior color combinations and radio.
things i want to do with the car:
Pull engine and transmission
Paint engine bay red
Paint engine block black.
Rebuild engine and transmission

New floorboards
Pull everything from underneath
Weatherize the underside
re-build and add new parts needed
add a different rear end

Strip interior
Do interior metal work
Paint body black w/ red ground effects
get all new wire harness's
add flame red interior plastics
add new radio and speakers
thats all i could really think about right this minute but plan to add more in the progress. for those people who live in/near Michigan, i plan to get this car as done as possible for the Woodward dream cruse in August 2012.
that's about it for now, ill add more pictures when i actually get into the project.

Re: 1985 Trans am Restoration

Looks like you have a good restoration plan. Keeping the car Original is a good thing.

I restored my 85 TA and love it, 23 years and counting.

Good Luck with it and post your progress
