proud new owner of a 3rd Gen. (:

I finally got my new 3rd gen today. It is my first car. It's a 1991 Z28 305/ 5.0 liter. Got it for $2600, with 91,000 miles, and needing some minor work like brakes, radio, and dash. The car looks pretty nice for the age and price and I'm pretty happy with it.

Not a bad deal...rare find with a factory CD player. Welcome to the fold. If the tachometer is off (all those 90-92s read crazy at some point) there are great instructions on here on how to fix it.

Get those headlamp buckets painted black, find some original wheels, fix that dash and get it cleaned up nice...you'll have a nice ride there!

The factory CD player unfortunately doesn't work but the new wheels I'm going to be looking for and the dash is hopefully going to be ordered soon!

Thats a nice looking Camaro,I like the high rise spoiler on the back. Those early factory cd players were very prone to failure, there are several companys online that can install newer cd drives though making them very reliable.

I'd like to get a 92 Z28 with T-Tops one day.

I thought only the 1991-1992 Z28s came with the high rise spoiler? Pontiac also used special spoilers on their Formula,Trans am and Gta's those years.

Correct, plus there was no Z28 in 1990 (only the IROC, which was pretty much a carry-over from 1989, minus the airbag). "F40" style hi-rise spoiler was only available on 1991-92 Z28's.

Re: proud new owner of a 3rd Gen. (:

Let's correct a few things here.

The high rise spoiler was available only on the 91/92 Z28. Not "all" 91/92 Camaros got the high rise. Also, there was a Z28 in 1990. Yes it was the IROC-Z, but all IROC-Zs from 1988-90 were Z28s. From 1988-90, all Z28s had the IROC-Z appearance package as standard. There is no IROC-Z RPO code for 1988+.

Yeah i do. The car came with those rims. I think there some kind of all american racing rims, but they're pretty ugly. I havent decided if i should look for the 91 stock rims or get Iroc rims.

Get the correct 91-92 wheels. I bet your car had the ones with the white inserts, but those may be impossible to find.

I think the painting the headlight bucket's will be one of the last things I do. Being on a high school budget I need to get some of the other more important things fixed first like brakes, high beams, headliner and the horn doesn't work lol. But the bucket's will be painted hopefully in the next month or so.

Unfortunately it was in 3 accidents (tree, guard rail, and a car) but the carfax all said they were all from the mid 90's so I'm not to worried about it. But yeah the wheels are going, just trying to find a good deal on some stock ones!
