1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA NASCAR Pace Car REAL 1 of 1
1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA NASCAR Pace Car REAL 1 of 1 on ebay.
This one of the most desirable and collectible Trans Am’s built. This is NOT a replica. It actually performed race day duties on the NASCAR tracks throughout the North East. 1987 was the first year that NASCAR sanctioned the Busch Grand National North Racing Series. Oxford Plaines Speedway in Oxford, Maine was the track where the one and only surviving official 1987 Busch Grand National North Pace Car was based. The series raced throughout the Northeast, at sanctioned tracks from Maine to Pennsylvania and Delaware. Today it is know as the K&N Pro Series East.
From time to time, Pontiac Motor Division provided the Pace Cars to the NASCAR series, but most were returned to the dealers and detuned and sold as personal vehicles for customers. This car has the heavy duty suspension, and equipment that Pace Cars required. One special requirement was the Pace Car sticker on the rear bumper. This showed that the vehicle was actually working for NASCAR.
Before the completion of the 1987 race season, George Boyce, Press and Public Director at Oxford Plains, made arrangements with Pontiac Motor Division to purchase the pace car. It was sold to him intact, with all the lettering and the original light bar on the roof, just as it came off the track from its last race it had paced. The only stipulation in the purchase arrangement was that the car would remain as a Pace Car with all the logos, light bar and lettering intact.
The car, Serial Number 1G2FW218HN237916 was transferred to him from Pontiac Motor Division through Emerson Buick-Pontiac, in Auburn, Maine on October 30, 1987.
This car comes with documented history. Including letter of authenticity, window sticker, odometer statements, title history, owners manual, GM Warranty booklet, GM Maintenance Schedule booklet, Goodyear Tire Warranty booklet, and Delco Radio booklet.
Please take time for the time for the 140++ clear digital pictures to upload. Shop around; you will have a hard time to find one this nice for the price. This a very original car. It drives out very nice as it should. It starts, idles, drives, shifts, stops very nice. AC blows nice and cold too. The engine bay is very original and stock in appearance.

Weird, never even knew about this one (probably since they didn't build any replicas for the general public). Price is somewhat reasonable.
Sure looks a lot like the 89 Pace Cars except for one important difference...

I'm wondering y the window sticker says leather but its cloth.
Also the fender bolts, hood hinge bolts, hood latch &bolts and front bumper filler panel bolts aren't painted body color like every car I've ever seen??
either she's been repainted or it was a special/build order..

The leather appointment option is not the leather seats but stuff like leather steering wheel cover, leather shifter handle and leather parking brake handle. It's got RPO 62D which is Camel Cloth Trim and so the cloth seats are correct.

Shouldn't it have the gain slider on the dash? I thought in '87, they either had it, or a delete plate.

Honestly, the price is not waaay out of line for a 26,000 mile GTA... It is a bit high, and really, the light bar and stickers kind of make it neat.

Agreed. I'd say its worth $13-14k, for sure. It isn't like they want $25k+ for it.

It says on the window sticker "special performance package" do you see that on the spid. should it have N10 dual exhaust?
