This one, even without trying, should be pretty quick. It's got the L69 cammed LB9 because it's and '85 and all Z28s with LB9 that year got a 3.23 rear, (IROC-Z got a 3.42).

You mentioned the detailing under the hood. You would think they would just spent the extra hour or so and cleaned it up a bit. Details details details!

A quickie engine detail would go a long way. As we all know, you can get the engine compartment about 85% there after an hour. The remaining 15% takes dozens of hours.
I noticed the hood spring is painted here. The one on my yellow '85 IROC is also painted, but the rest of my 3rd gens are bare metal.

One thing I gotta say about 3rd gen F bodies [and most other 80's models], is at least you had a wide variety of color choices when it comes to interior. Not to mention some really cool exterior colors too. Todays car interiors are boring, light grey, dark grey, extra dark grey, how many shades of grey can they make? 50? lol
That is a nice looking car, I kinda like the color combo because its different.

I bet if this car was an 89 everyone would be enamored with it. No complaints!
Honestly, its nice to see a clean 85 for a change...

Truth be told, I was bidding on it last go around... would make an awesome car for my wife
As Kymmee said above, I too like the color because it's different... I feel the same way about the yellow IROCs, the 85 blue IROCs (lighter shade than later years), and even the dark russet metallic (brown) on the 87 GTAs... might have to get one of those some day

I love it! It would look awesome with some gold painted 3 piece Speedline Alessios I have...
If I could sell my Typhoon and Mustang, I would really consider buying this. I tossed in a few bids. I messaged him to see what the reserve price is. Currently the high bidder...

It's relisted and bids are lower this time. He does mention the heater core was done but I'm sure the carpet could be steam cleaned to get the streak out! So common with these cars when they've sat.

If it didn't sell at $10.5, what makes them think it's going to have any more bites at nearly twice the price? Somebody has been hitting the hash pipe one too many times.

Tossed in a bid again... I have to convince the wife to let me go higher and actually purchase it. Basically I think I have to sell my Typhoon first and my mustang soon after. Not sure how long this guy will have it and I kinda want to take it. I could have my wife drive this to New Mexico while I drive my Iroc there...

Buy it now at 9000, but it hasn't hit reserve at 7900? What's the point of an auction at all then! Probably reserve @ 8?

One of my questions that hasn't been noticed, or brought up, is the fact there aren't door bumper guards on the doors... I am a bit curious if it is a respray. I don't think a 50 year old lady would have them removed without reason.

Re: Well, Here's a 1985 Creampuff.....
Nice car for the money...there's enough 3rd gen parts for sale out there that I'm sure you could get clean dash pieces and get rid of the woodgrain. Peeling it off, and expecting a good outcome, probably wouldn't work too well.
I sold my 86 TA with a fresh respray back in 2012 for $10,000 in a heartbeat, as a peanut cammed LB9/A4/2.77 combo. This car has lower miles (mine had 34k), better performance for less money. I still think my blue/silver TA was a far prettier car.
I never knew they even made a russet interior...I don't think I've ever seen one, at least that I can remember!

Yeah, me either. Kinda fugly.
Remember that old movie 'Used Cars' with Kurt Russell where the guy is paranoid about red cars? The guy couldn't even ride around in a red car that had been painted blue because it was STILL red underneath. Thats how I feel about this car. Cant even paint the damn thing lol

Re: Well, Here's a 1985 Creampuff.....
Yes, this is a one year custom color. It's known as Copper, was stated that way from the original owner I purchased mined from, and also listed that way in the Camaro White Book (code 69, 11,406 built), and in the lit. posted here. That said, the same is listed as russet in Canada and possibly for Firebirds as well.
For reference, the hood spring on mine is also body color. Mine has been resprayed on the outside but I don't think the spring was affected by that. The body moldings on mine are thin black rubber. No idea if stock or not(I know the doors were painted). This is one of my favorite body colors, it looks great in the sun w/ a fresh coat of wax. That said, I was never a huge fan of the interior. Some parts I like (carpet and plastics), others not so much. Leather seats/door panels, and also flat black accents would have gone a long ways for the interior imo. In fact, my door panels are a solid vinyl which makes me think that leather seats matching them would tone things down a bit. Very few accent colors go with copper and most every other color competes with it imo. The wood makes it look worse imo since to me (my impression) the rest of the interior is actually more of an orange color.
It is a very controversial color, especially at the time, and I got a lot of **** about it since purchasing it back in the mid 90's. I even kept it around a little longer because one of my coworkers hated it so much. The odd thing is that I owned a copper GTO and no one seemed to have a problem with that, and I was often stopped by people interested in buying it back in the mid 80's. Then too, within the last decade or two I have seen more and more new copy cat vehicles coming out in various copper/orange schemes. Most notably the Dodge Charger with the flat black accents which reaffirmed my thoughts on it.
One problem with copper is that it doesn't take much to make it not look as good as it could. Over time it can look more brownish while at the same time, fading from the sun creates a pinkish hue. You may be able to see that in my avatar. The interior cloth will also fade to a more pinkish color. It NOT the original color, but at the same time restoration of a custom GM interior color may be somewhat difficult. So what you end up with is what you have.
Bullydawg, this is a rare Camaro, especially being a Z28. If you like the color buy it and enjoy it like I did mine, but don't count on resale, and offer a more discounted price if you see the pinkish fade. If you have any questions please ask. I think it's pretty cool that the floor mats are still there.
