1986 Z28 L69?
Hey Guys,
Just bought a 1986 Z28. It has the '5.0 Liter HO' decals on it, I assumed this meant it had an L69. After finding out that they made very few '86s with the L69 I thought I had found something rare. I then checked the VIN on the car, and it show an LG4 (8th digit of VIN is H).
I am confused as to what is going on. Did someone add the HO decals after they had bought it? Driving the car around, it feels like it's pushing more than 155hp that the LG4 was rated for.
If anyone has some input on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Matt

According to this https://www.thirdgen.org/1986-chevy-camaro/ they made 74 and they all had manual 5 speeds and yours has a auto 700r,So I would assume one of the previous owners put the decals on.

I'd believe the VIN over some previous owner installed decal.

Is this a Med. Grey Z28? I did an "H.O. conversion" on one back in the early '90's. Dual snorkel air cleaner, perfectly placed correct GM decals on the rocker panels and rear bumper "5.0 Liter H.O." nameplate. I even went as far as to install the correct A/C hose coming out of the drier where it makes that dip to clear the right side air cleaner duct. It was the perfect clone!

Reminds me of the 1977-1979 Trans ams. Only the high output W72 400's had "T/A 6.6" on the hood shaker. The std 400's & 403's got "6.6 LITRE" decals. Just about everyone installs the T/A 6.6 decals even though it doesn't belong on most of them. Ironically its rare to see 6.6 Liter today.
Hopefully you didn't buy the car because it was supposed to be a L69 HO. Didn't all the HO's have a 6K redline tack too?
