An okay article. The cover is more exiting than the book.

Interesting read.
And I'm sure our local pundits will have a thing or two to say. (Rack and pinion...?)

I really hate how the magazines and media have continued to state that the Z28 went away in 1988. I've had discussions with GM staff that say the same thing, but then they can't explain why the RPO code for the 1988-1990 IROC-Z was "Z28". Just to clarify for all future readers that don't know my stance...
The Z28 did not go away during the 3rd gen years. It was the top dog in 1982, 1988 and 1992. The IROC-Z was an option package on the Z28 in 1985-1987 and used RPO B4Z to denote the package. In 1988, Chevrolet reduced the submodel lineup to only two, the Sport Coupe and the Z28. The Z28 had the IROC-Z appearance package applied by default and RPO B4Z was dropped. You could now get an IROC-Z as base as the previous years Z28, including the LG4 and 15" rims. This continued thru the end of 1989 when the last IROC-Z was built.

I feel like I've seen this car before. It's a very nice car. Was it restored by a guy who also had some C6 Corvettes? I like the style of the resto - looks stock, but isn't (manual plus L98).
Also, did the IROC era cars have better body panel fit? I know that one has been restored, but it seems the nose piece and ground effects fit more cleanly and consistently on the IROC era cars than the 91-92s. I have no data, just anecdotal observation from pictures of original cars.

I wondered why specifically they referenced the 89' iroc the most collectable year?

I've heard others say that 1987 was the most collectible year. So, whoever is determining the best year should make up their mind.

87... 89... Don't think it makes much of a difference other than 87 being the first year of the 350 in a 3rd gen. If it says Iroc on it I think it will be a collectable car in the future.

Personally I feel 87 is the BEST looking year & was 1st year for vert or a 350.
89 is my personal favorite because of no air bag but 350 & better performance than 87 & 88.
I don't think the people who write these articles are experts by any means.

I stopped reading Car Craft after they did some generic cam comparo. Ran a baseline; then swapped cams AND heads and proclaimed what great dyno numbers the cam produced.

Although, the 91/2 Z-28 with the leather is a pretty sweet combo too.

I personally prefer the '89 interior over the '87. I do like the Z28 callouts on the rockers and rear bumper cover on the '87, and the '87 wheels. I don't have any preference to the IROC-Z decals at the front or rear of the door.

I always felt the 90 would be the most valuable IROC as that was the last year of production and it was cut short in total numbers produced. I myself have always liked the 91-92 the best. The air scoops cut in the ground effects, that F-1 style rear spoiler and the blister scoops just for me made it look BA.
