I was wondering how bigger arms do it without tearing up their arms.
Does your radiator support, near the battery tray, have some rust? I would suggest, for your videos, to rotate your phone to landscape so you don't get those side bars. But I'm not a professional so there's that.

I have a GTA now and I love it. But the Formula is still the best looking trim level.

Is this supposed to be flat or glossy?

You got your first video like to go with your first video. Solid car!
Glossy on the tail panel as far as I know.

Yup, full gloss. Polish it up with the taillights. Plastic polish, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, etc. Elbow grease or a buffer. Nice and wet looking.

Re: Look what followed me home. ‘87 Formula
Looks like you're outta the woods!
BTW, that center panel is just clear plastic. The bird and the black finish are on the reverse side, so don't be afraid to get rough with the exterior to restore it. Use whatever method you're most comfortable with. A lot of people wet sand, but no surface is safe from destruction when I touch sandpaper, so I use compounds, and the results are just as beautiful.
That's my original center panel from 1987. The taillights are spares that I experimented with to change the amber to red. Actually, these were all compounded with elbow grease, and man, it was exhausting! But they're gorgeous, IIDSSM. The car currently has 85-90 TAs with a red bird center panel, and for them I used compounds with a buffer. MUCH easier and faster!
Yours looks like it might have some scratches. These TAs were badly scratched when I salvaged them. I began with a medium coarse compound and buffer, about three goes at them, and that smoothed them out. Then Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, all buffer applied, then wax. No clearcoats on either set you see.
If the black is peeling off of the reverse side of your panel, and it kind of looks like it might be in one small spot, but it could just be some bad scratches on the outside, then you'll have to refinish the reverse side too. But, again, don't be shy about how you refinish the exterior of that center panel and those taillights.

Why would I want an LG4, 5 speed, Formula?
This secretly is one reason. I'm just a sucker for stuff like this.

BTW, the '87 LG4 is the epitome of LG4s. 170 hp, 9.3 to 1 compression, roller cam, center bolt valve covers, single main seal. Basically, an LB9 with with a carb.

That white Formula makes me so nostalgic for my first Formula. And probably for being 26 years old again. Loved that car.

The rear spoiler is in bad shape. Thinking of going spoilerless for a while. Talk me out of it!

Tails look good. Amazing how they can make such a difference in the overall appearance of the car.
Does the spoiler look like it was once painted white? 85-86 aero wings had a textured black finish; 87+ were smooth and painted to match the car. Wondering if it might've been replaced.
I've read people say that their rough, aging spoilers fell apart upon removal, even though they didn't look bad enough for that to happen. Mine is still nice, never replaced or removed, so I can't confirm what might happen.
They supposedly don't take well the being patched, but except for that one bad spot and its poor finish, if it comes off intact, then it might be worth investigating the possibility of saving it. But take it to a known professional in your area for advice, not an online "expert."

So these electronic Q-Jets, I'd imagine that they need a certain amount of electrical energy to run?? Can anyone chime in? Running around with it today and it died in traffic. I had enough momentum to pull into a parking lot. Cranked but wouldn't start. After a few tries, the battery went almost dead. Nice guy named Larry sees me and pulls up to give me a jump. Car started right up.
Currently have it on a charger and doesn't seem to want to take a charge.
Thought?

What a beautiful car. I may have working class tastes, and heck, I come from a working class family. But I've never seen a car that I thought looked better. That front end is just perfect.

Battery appears to be toast. I'll check the alternator when I get home.
So, I just want to say, I really think this car is fun to drive. It's a nice combo, updated '87 LG4, T5 and 3.23 gears. Maybe a bit RPM limited in that it runs out of breath around 4,000-4,500. The car came with a FILTHY paper air filter. Now that was RPM limited! All in by 3500. I had a clean K&N from my HO set up, and that REALLY improved it's breathing. Can't wait for the parts to come in to make my hood scoop functional.

I was surprised when I saw the 3.23 gear on the SPID. I was expecting a 3.08.

Me too but I was also wondering if the drums were originally aluminum, which it appears not. My 1988 T/A is fairly loaded (T-Top, LB9, digital cluster and deluxe interior) but has the 2.73 gears with aluminum drive shaft and aluminum rear drums.

I really like the '87 LG4s. They are sooo much better than the early ones. They almost should have renamed it LG5 or something, that's how different they are. The one in my '87 IROC, was smooth and torquey. It was only let down by it's 700R4 tuned to hit top gear ASAP and it's 2.73 gears. This one with a 5 speed and 3.23 gear is a whole different animal. I have a few bugs to work out though.
