Look what followed me home. ‘87 Formula
46,000 miles. From the original owner. Floorpans are amazing. LG4, 5 speed, 3.23 gears. Needs much TLC. Figured I'd start a thread. Just washed it in Dawn dish soap.

Very nice, the 5 speed really makes it cool and looks pretty original. I look forward to seeing more of it.

First things to do:
1) New tires
2) Fix passenger side headlight
3) repair or replace leaking factory exhaust.

I just recently finished doing the headlight fix on one of my ThirdGens. My RH didn't work while the LH did but I did both at the same time. The LH is the one that you have to take the motor apart, and fight with the brushes to put back together. Not a big deal but it's those little things that can fight.

What tires are you going to go with? I need new tires myself.

I think it's a little easier to change heater core on a Firebird vs Camaro? Better access? Any feedback?

5) Pull out heater core. See if it is a brass OEM and determine if it can be repaired.

Re: Look what followed me home. ‘87 Formula
Are the signs present that tell you the heater core needs to be replaced? With the low mileage you've mentioned, it's most likely the factory heater core. If you can get a new OE-type core from somewhere (they are available, as I mentioned in your "Hawk's" thread, and a local radiator shop can probably get one), then anyone who is proficient at soldering should be able to remove the side tanks from the old core and put them on the new core.
BTW, I contacted Hawk's about OE heater cores. I can still hear the crickets from 2500 miles away. If you haven't yet, as I mentioned in your other thread, and you need one, then this would be the perfect time for you to do your thing with Bruce.
If you have to remove the heater core, then the only difficult bolt to reach is the one on top (even more difficult to put back). I've read that it's easier to reach that top bolt in a Firebird than a Camaro, but I've never done a Camaro. But if you've removed/replaced a heater core in a 3rdgen before, then it will be easy. If this will be your first, then it might take about 2-3x longer than it should.

I'm trying to post a video of the undercarriage, but the battery tray is shot. Any alternatives to welding in a new one?

We have about a 20mb upload limit and I'm guessing your video exceeds that.
Your Facebook links should work, but I think it's because your Facebook settings are restricting them from being shared outside of your group.

To be honest, it's hard to beat YouTube in video hosting as it requires different servers and resources that sites like ours don't offer with normal webservers.
