I have found all the emblems for mt 91 TA except for the PONTIAC across the rear between the lights, I don't have the bird there just the pontiac. How can I replace this ??

Since they were originally painted on, you can either make a stencil and repaint them, or you could have a vinyl shop make up a convincing decal. Personally when I get around to it, I plan to go the decal route to keep it from rubbing off again... not to mention painting it could possibly lead to destruction of hard to come by taillights... not to mention there are so few people around that know what to look for that chances of anyone noticing its not 100% accurate are pretty slim

I've been looking for a decal for 2 years and I finally decided to find a local auto painter/detailer that re-painted it back on there for me. I got lucky, he even remembered what color they originally were painted from back when the cars where new, it's not a red but kind of a orange/red. I'll post pics if you want. Just remember though, the letters aren't solid, it's just the inside and outside lines of the letters that get painted just like the molding shows on the taillights. Also, if it's not a GTA, I've seen some Trans Am's that actually had gray lettering instead....

It was the orange color there is a little of the paint still on it, also the lense is notched where it was painted so it should be easer to reproduce. I would realy like to see the pictures of it and any shots of the emblem placement also. I want to get it as close as possible.

I'll take some pictures sometime this week. As for the posistion of the emblems, if you get a copy of the factory repair guide that all of the dealers used, it has the exact posistioning of all of the emblems on the car down to the milimeter. If you like I can email you the exact posistions although it will be hard to illusrate without the pictures that acompany it and my scanner is broken

A fax might be helpful but there is no way I'm tearing out the pages, sorry. It's a very hard to find hardbound book that's about 300 pages, about 4 inches thick and the pages are made out of that tissue type paper. I took me months to find, I got lucky on Ebay one day I bet if you went to a large public library they might have one for sale for 1991, that's how the seller of mine got it.......

I'll search my local area for that book, I would still like to see the photos of rear of your car.
I have no idea where that "yopour" sh*t came from must be my big fingers hitting the wrong keys.

Car: 1991 GTA

Call me crazy, but I always thought that there were two different tail light lenses available for the 91 Trans Am/GTA cars. One type had only the smoked center sections, and the other had the PONTIAC lettering. I thought that it was hit or miss if your car came with the lettering or not.
I asked about this awhile back, and I think I even saw the part numbers on here at one time. (If anyone has the part numbers for the lenses that would be a great help )

For some reason, I dont think mine were EVER painted. There are no hints of them being painted. They are just black, but you can see the outling of the Pontiac. Wonder what the hell thats about?

Yeah, mine were the exact same way, totally black but the outline of the word PONTIAC is there. I know though for a fact that mine was painted because I have a 10 year old photo of my car taken around the time it was new and you can see in the pics that it was painted.
Pics of my restored taillights to come! Sorry it's taking so long

The lettering on mine would look un painted except for a small area on the "I" that has a touch of orangeish color. Other then that all that is left is the outline. I'm looking foward to seeing the photos.
