1983 Trans Am Parting Out

I have a 83 T/A that I am parting out. It has the charcoal interior. The seats are sold. A lot of the panels in the trunk area are good as well. This car had a power hatch but I don't know if it worked or not since I got it not running.

Is there something wrong with the body or just parting it to make some money back?

Did the car have a 700R4 auto?? If so, Im interested in the shifter...not necessarily the ****, just the shifter. Also, did the car have any other options beside the rear hatch release, such as wipers, or rear defogger? If it just had the hatch release, I'd be interested in the dash trim, the button, and the hatch release solenoid. Also, was the car a Crossfire Injection car? I'd be interesetd in the CFI setup if you still have it. Also, did it have the rear cargo shade? I'd be interested in that also, and the hatch plastic trim that the cargo shade connects to. Also interested in the plastic trim that goes at the rear of the headliner, but only if the screw holes are intact, not elongated, or cracked

Thanks

Dazz, I needed a few things off of it and I am trying to make some cash for the rest of it.

1982 I will go out and look at the stuff you mentioned and get back with you tomorrow afternoon. Thanks.

I will say that the floors are in great shape in this car. So far I have not found a hole anywhere or any rust really. The car had something fall on the driver's side windshield pillar. The 1/4 panels on this car are so nice I thought about cutting them off. The doors are about the nicest 1983 doors you will see they just need hinge pins. I have been looking underneath them and I can not believe how nice they are. My other 83 that I have in the garage that we show has got more rust than this car does.

The fenders were not rusted out but they were dented above the fenderwells on both of them.

Still have the factory air induction hood with all the hardware still attached with the air cleaner and seal still. It looks pretty straight just a little surface rust on it. Give me a day or so and I will get plenty of pictures of these parts.

The car is a 5-speed with the WS-6 Package as well with the rear disk rear end. I don't know if those 2 items are still good or not. I have to check them out still. It still has the factory manual clutch z-bar and bellhousing.

When it gets daylight I will head out back and check out those interior parts.

I pm'ed you. I also have some nice plastic pieces for some locking t-tops. They are black. I also have the headlight, parking light switch with the dimmer switch as well. I have the dash facia around the guages and it is also in perfect shape.

It has a sunshade in the back but I have to see how good of shape it is in. A lot of the side panels and interior panels are in pretty decent shape. They are charcoal in color.

I have a lot of the black plastic under the dash which is also in great shape.

Still have any of these parts? Need the underdash panels and small panel
where power hatch release is. Does this panel have rear defrost switch
opening too ? Need panel with both openings and switches. Wiring harness sockets for those two switches would also be nice.

Re: 1983 Trans Am Parting Out

Guys I am sorry I am real late to respond to these requests.

Sill plates are gone.

The panel at the back of the t-tops is gone was sold.

Rear hatch was sold.

Cargo Cover was sold and I lost money on that one. Shipping costs.

Sway Bars are still here. I think they are 32mm in front and 21 mm for the rear.

Those little impossible to find pieces behind the door were sold. They were really in bad shape. They were busted and cracked and I got 25.00 out of them.

I still have the under dash plastics. They have the holes for the defroster, hatch. I might have the harness still as well.

Re: 1983 Trans Am Parting Out

I sent you an email. I also still have the dimmer switch, hatch switch and defroster plus the trunk hatch release with all the wiring.
----------
The console would have to be really packed good and be a little expensive to send to CT. I don't how much they would charge for that. I would take 50.00 for the console plus shipping.

Re: 1983 Trans Am Parting Out

I am not sure about the shipping costs. I would have get a box and some sort of strong packing to keep them from breaking it in transit. How soon do you need it. You know this is a 5-speed console, right? I seen somewhere else you were looking for an auto. It did not have a radio face plate when I got it.
----------
Does 60.00 with the switches sound OK plus about 25.00 for shipping. I think it is going to be oversize.

Re: 1983 Trans Am Parting Out

yes i am lookng for auto but i can find a shifter plate elsewhere

besides once my auto transmission goes in a few years i plan to swap to a t5 manual so your plate will come in handy then.

Yea i realize the shipping will be a pain. just see what you can whip together as fast packing in the next week or two if you have time.

not in a huge hurry i'll work around your schedule.

how good condition are the switches? like the writing/white lettering?

You dont happen to have the plastic trim piece that is right below the gauges and to the left of the steering wheel do you? Has like two screws the go in from the bottom that hold it to the dash.

I think I sold those pieces. I do have the ones below the dash and column plus I think the fuse door as well.
