WANTED: 1982 ONLY Seatbelts (Front) 1982-1984 (Rear)
I'm looking for a set of Seatbelts from ANY 1982 Camaro/Firebird. They MUST be from 1982 ONLY! Please do not post about any other years, I'm NOT interested...
well, I take that back. FRONTS 1982 ONLY, REARS 1982-1984 ONLY.
Other years will not interchange, so don't tell me they will, or to swap out all my seatbelts for later years. NOT GOING TO. Not trying to sound like an @$$, just trying to minimize unrelated posts.
Now with that out of the way, I'm looking for two sets of seatbelts:
1)Black or Dark Charcoal front passenger and drivers side retractors and receivers. Receivers must not have any cracked plastic. Minor fading and scuffing are ok, but NO cracked plastic. Retractors MUST have the plastic on the buckle part. I'd like the webbing to be in the best shape as possible...minimal fading/wear if possible.
2)Tan Fronts and Rears, in same condition as stated above.
I will take either color, so whatever you guys can find, have, or can get let me know!
I appreciate any help you can give !!

I'm pretty sure I have a set of rear tan belts from an '83. I'll check and see what condition they are in.

Well, I checked and I only have one rear tan receiver. It does look good though, if you want it. What makes the '82 front belts different from the '83?

Re: WANTED: 1982 ONLY Seatbelts (Front) 1982-1984 (Rear)
front belts in '82 are fixed at the floor, and retract at the roof. In '83-'92 they have a retractor at the floor, and I believe are fixed at the roof. The retractor requires different door sills, another '82 specific part because of the seatbelt design.
Anyway, I'm still looking for these!

'83 belts still used the older style receivers with the "GM" logo buttons. Or, at least the ones I have do.
BTW, the non-'82 fronts had retractors at the top and bottom.

I found an '82 z28 at the local yard with a good set of black/charcoal belts. If you want, I can pull them when I go back on saturday. The scuff plates were still there too.

Yah, if you could go back I'd appreciate it. The front receivers just need to have NO cracks, that is my biggest request. Do you remember if the front belts themselves were worn or faded at all??
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: WANTED: 1982 ONLY Seatbelts (Front) 1982-1984 (Rear)
They looked to be in VERY nice condition for an '82. The retractors seemed to work fine and the belts did not appear to be faded very much if at all. There was some small rust specs on the chrome part of the buckles that looked like it would come off with some chrome polish. I don't remember there being any cracks in the receivers. If they are still there, I should be able to get them for pretty cheap.
