Strange request for steering parts
Due to a series of unfortunate events, I am in need of the steering shaft (not the entire column) that runs through the column should anyone happen to have a column that is not particularly worth saving. I really don't need the entire column as I would just be tearing it down and discarding most of it anyway.
If anyone has a shaft (this is an 86 T/A by the way) that they would be willing to extract from an old column, please let me know.
I haven't been able fully disassemble my column yet, so I am not sure if the shaft can be further disassembled. If it can, I really only need the upper piece that the steering wheel would be mounted to. As I said, the series of unfortunate events has left me with a nut that is more useful as a washer and a steering shaft with a less than useful number of threads.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide in remedying this situation.

Re: Strange request for steering parts
I do have a tilt column in fact.
As far as the repairs suggested, I would definitely go that route if there was enough metal on the original shaft to cut new threads. I think the only way to repair what I have at this point would be to build material back onto the shaft with a welder (not sure how practical that would be), machine it back to a round piece of stock, and then have new threads cut. Not sure if I would even be able to find a machine shop that would be willing to attempt that.
