Audi seats in a third gen
I have seen these seats put in a third gen. what I need to know is how the sliders and brackets are set up. I had something rigged but the seats were too high (I am also quite tall 6'3"). Do I need to cut the bolts and make a new mount? are there any universal kit for third gens? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hey,
I also have a set of Audi TT seats that I'm about to attempt to install. From the photos that Z28_from_Europe posted, it looked as though he built a (wood?) box to mount the rear seats on, and then carpeted it to match his interior.
Have you already installed the front seats? I'm not certain if Z28_from_Europe drilled new mounting holes in the seat rails, or drilled into the floorpan to affix new studs.
I've tried to get ahold of him a couple times, but he either doesn't log in very often or he took a trip to the Autobahn, haha.

Now that my other interior projects are done, I'm working on installing the seats. So far, I've removed the back half from the driver's seat and removed the bottom pad and wiring, leaving a bare frame to work with. I think the heater wiring is a couple brown lines and a small black connector, but not sure.
When doing an earlier trial fit, I noticed that activating the lever on the outer side of the seat triggers the pneumatic (or is it oil filled?) "strong arm", lowering the seat by a dramatic amount. Maybe that was the source of your problem?
It looks as though I'm going to need to slightly modify the seat rails to sit flush to the floorboard and then create a seat of adapter plates (2 bolts per plate on the seat rail, then bolt to the factory stud) to safely secure the seat.
I'm getting the feeling that Z28_from_Europe likely just drilled through the Audi seat rails and screwed them to the floorboards, as opposed to making use of the factory studs. He mentioned how they took no time at all to install, but I am wondering how safe that method is?
The rear seats are so totally different from the factory rear seats that I likely won't be able to tackle them this summer. They may be taken to an upholstery shop for installation next spring, as I dislike the notion of using mdf for anything aside from sub enclosures.

Ok, for the curious - we've finished the installation of the driver's side seat. It's a fantastic seat. The height adjusts to either stock, or slightly lower (I'm not certain offhand, but it's close), though I perfer sitting tighter in the pocket, so to speak, than way back & low. For comparison, I'm 6' tall.
The passenger's side seat will require a different set of bracket dimensions - going to finish it during this week. I'll post photos of the 2 front seats installed afterwards.
I have a pile of suspension goodies to install this coming weekend, but bolster support alone makes the car much more fun to drive.

The front seats are done. Still have to somehow remove the seatbelt guide that used to screw into the factory seat's headrest and paint the brackets. The door armrests are just barely contacting the side of the seats when the doors are closed, so I want to solve that as well. Does anyone have ideas on how to "slim down" the armrests slightly?
I'd like to thank Thomas for his advice and a friend of mine who helped a great deal with the install.

For the seatbelt loops I used a hacksaw blade and cut the ear in between the bolt holes
There really aint a way to remove it without unstitching the belt or cutting something

Andrew. Can you share what you did to install these? Did you drill holes in the floor pan or modify the Audi runners? Any pictures would be great.
Thanks,
Robert

Re: Audi seats in a third gen
Hi Robert - The contour of the floorpans made directly bolting the seats to the floor problematic, regardless of if the rails were modified, or the floor. I did not want to modify the factory studs from the floorpan, either. I actually built adapter brackets for each stud to mount the seats using the factory Audi rail holes and factory Camaro floorpan studs. The car is in storage for the next several weeks, however I would be happy to remove the seats (I'm doing some additional interior modifications this summer) and photograph/measure the brackets once I've removed it from storage. Who knows, you may have some suggestions on how I can improve upon them!
Edit! - I was mistaken, I DID modify the Audi seats' rails slightly - I ground off the little black "spike" that is on the bottom of the rails, as it caused interference with the floorpan!
I should also mention that I have not yet installed the rear seats - I'm concerned that the minimal amount of available head space would be further reduced by the Audi bench-style seat. I don't like the way that the other guy did his, because you can see it was probably an MDF box used for structure in his photos. I'll probably have seat covers made for the factory seats, using the Audi rear seats as a reference, to obtain the same look in a correct, factory-fit.

Re: Audi seats in a third gen
Thanks Andrew, that would be a great help. I'm thinking of getting a set of these for my car as they appear to be a cheap upgrade. It's just making sure I'd be confident fitting them in and salely too. I'll wait patiently for an update when you have time.

No problem - happy to help out! Make sure you check my last post again - It looks like my edit was applied after you posted. If you managed to get a good deal on these, then you are more fortunate than I, haha! Something I found while installing these (during the disassembly) was that these seats are made by Mercedes Benz - pretty neat!

I'm currious to know what the brackets look like too. I'm keen to get a set of these seats and try them out and mess around with the bracket design also.

We just got nailed with freezing rain and snow - it'll probably be a couple of weeks before it's dry enough for me to bring the car out of storage. Ah, Winnipeg...

Re: Audi seats in a third gen
Hey guys haven't been on here for awhile but I've got the 4th gen dash and console in and the seats are in but I still haven't made brackets to mount them to all the studs yet. The car is in storage right now and I don't have enough room to open the doors for a pic but I'm hoping to have it out in a month or so and I'll add pics then.
