I have an 88 T/A with t tops and I need help with a headliner. I guess I could do it myself because the interior guy near me wants $175 just to glue some fabric! I need help deciding on where to look for fabric and actually doing it. Should I pull down the foam piece first? and how does the foam come down?

Take the rear panel near the hatch down, take down the roof light, take down your sun visors, in the front there are two clips right near where the ends of the sun visors go to, you need to carefully get them unclipped by either moving it to the passenger side like your supposed to or putting something in there to push the clip in to have it pop out, then gently guide it around the seat belt and drop it.

As far as removing the old fabric, make sure you remove all the foam that will still be attatched to the actual cardboard headliner, i just rubbed it a little roughly and it worked out fine. Once that is all clean it is ready to have headliner fabric re-installed.

I went to joannes fabric store to get my roofliner fabric, they also have a special glue for headliners ($20 a can but work very well), and then you'll be set on the install. As far as doing the entier process good luck, i still have yet to figure out how to properly do a t-top roofliner, hardtop is simple, but t-top i can't get the curves of it down right, i had to hem another piece of liner to make it around the curves propery which was a pain in the **** all by itself.

I myself just waiting for the weather to get a bit better and going to redo the t-top headliner and replace the carpeting and seats with a nice set of 30th annv seats out of a 97 camero. I wish I found ones from a 4th gen firebird but for $40 bucks and they look and feel a whole lot better than my 3th gens. Hopefully I find a wrecked t top bird or camaro at the junkyard to practices on.

I second JoAnne for the material. I used 3M heavy duty spray adhesive, some on the headliner, and some on the fabric. Let it sit until it almost feels dry. If you can get someone to help you stretch the fabric above your headliner, and then someone to push down in the center and then outwards you'll be good to go in no time! It's not hard to do, you'll be fine!
