And my newest mod arrived today...
Since I have a full 4thgen interior it was time to do something a little better with the shifter. The 6spd console offers space to mod. So.. I decided on this: A gated setup.
stay tuned..
stay tuned..

How are you gonna mod your shifter to move left & right?

Re: And my newest mod arrived today...
The mod is fairly straight forward ,the way the mechanism works has nothing to do with the shifter cable itself as all of the "gates" are operated within the unit with no effect on the cable pivot mounting point. The hardest part will be glassing up a custom surround. I also kept the chrome ring that goes around the gear selector. I did a visual fit and there is room for the shifter and space to make it work.

Re: And my newest mod arrived today...
My car is away for the winter so I have not been able to get more done. Around april I will resume this mod. The shifter will change the gears no problems. The custom console top will be the most work.

I never did get this in with all the other stuff to finish on the car, and I no longer have the T/A so if anyone wants to try this I will sell the shifter for $15 plus shipping. I also have part of the face plate so you can fab up a nice over.

How hard would it be to make this work? I
I'm sure new holes might need to be made to mount it on the tunnel, but what about the shifter cable? Is it a direct bolt in? Or will cables need to be swapped?

Re: And my newest mod arrived today...
It has a typical GM mounting point for the cable. I didn't plan on modifying the cable, I don't see any reason to. The gated system is all built into the unit and the shifter cable only goes back and forth like the regular shifter. I had a few ideas how to make this work from positioning it to stock measurements to taking the front off and using the stock bracket. I can get pics of it from other angles if there is interest. Bottom line I never would have even grabbed the shifter if I didn't think I could easily get it all working on a Saturday afternoon glassing the face seemed like the most work to me.
