Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

This seems to come up in other threads where it really didn't belong, and I've noticed that it is often looked down upon by others here, but it's making me curious. How many of us on TGO smoke in our beloved Camaro's/Firebirds?

Nope. Don't smoke. Besides, it is way trashy and a waste of money.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I've smoked in other 3rdgens before, back when I was younger and they weren't mine. I don't smoke in mine for the simple reason that I made a deal with my wife that I would quit if I got my Camaro. With the way prices are now, it's the only way I can afford parts for the car

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I don't smoke often... a pack a week... at most... but yes, I will occasionally do it in my car, but only when the window is down. I am commuting quite a bit for the next three years (to college) so I imagine my Camaro will probably get smoked in a bit more. I have said this before, but I have three friends with ThirdGens, and they all smoke in their cars.

The first thing I do before putting on my seat belt is light up. I don't know what it is, but it just feels so good to be smoking and cruising the IROC together...

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I did for the last 6 years when it was my daily driver but now with new(to me) seats and carpet I'm not going to. It's actually not that hard I bought my truck a year ago decided not to smoke in it and still haven't, although I do become a lot more agitated on the road.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I never took up smoking, it's a nasty and filthy habit. Therefore I don't smoke in ANY of my cars. My parents smoked all my life and I hate to go over their house because it makes me gag.

No offense, I didn't have a need to put a cigarette in my mouth when I was a kid. Nor did I have to impress anyone.

yeah no offense taken but I enjoy smoking, I've been cutting back due to the rising cost but I mainly only smoke at work or at the bar now, (the ones you can still smoke in but that's way off topic) Just won't smoke or allow others to in my car, truck, apt. because I don't want any burns or stale cigarette stink in my stuff.

I smoke a Shwisher Blunt in mine when I'm working on it occasionally, But, don't intend to once it's on the road (Still have an engine rebuild to finish, a new Rear to put in it, and get it painted before that happens though.)

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I "socially" smoked in my late teens, because it was "cool".

Until the day I kissed a girl who was a regular smoker & I hadn't in awhile. Coulda gotten a LOT farther with her that night, but just the taste of her cigarette mouth made me wanna puke. Never touched another cigarette & avoided any indoor smoking. And stayed well upwind of any outside.

Nasty, addictive & a lung killer.

Facts are facts...It causes lung cancer. I don't need to suck smoke to kill myself slowly.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

i use to smoke for about a year, i got tired of it and always having to sneak outta the house with out my parents knowing. So thats how i quit. My ex g/f however that wasnt to long ago she was a smokeaholic, she would literally go through half a pack if not more in a 2 day period or less. I told her to try and have her smoke before i came to pick her up in the trans am. If there was a time she was stressed from work when id pick her up, id say she can have one but with the window down. Then keep them down on my way home trying to get the smoke smell outta the car so ppl wouldnt think i smoke. But even though i was really into this girl it was disgusting when he breathe smelled like smoke when we'd kiss. Yuke... nasty habit, i cant believe i actually did that ****.

I have to sneak out too... sucks. And I say the same thing with the girls I pick up! My parents like to drive the Camaro too... and that's the last thing I want is them to come home and be pissed at me! Besides sometimes, they even throw in a few gallons of premium fuel when they take my baby out... can't complain, just have to keep them happy!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I don’t understand a decision—and it is a decision—to smoke nowadays when all evidence points to the fact that it’s a serious health risk, not only to the smoker, but sadly to his family and friends as well.

Listing all the unfavorable points of smoking is easy. Attempt, however, to list its good points and difficulty arises very quickly.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

Smoking is a nasty disgusting habit. It pisses me off when I see smokers littering by flicking their used butts out the window on to the street or sidewalk. If you're going smoke keep it to yourself and keep the butts in your car and get rid of them in trash. It's your choice to smoke not ours. I won't buy a car that's been owned by a smoker either. You'll never get the stink out of the seats, carpet and headliner.

Lol... I knew this was going to happen... we're all going to get the "it's bad for you lecture"... please save it, we've heard it before, and most of us do not care, we wouldn't continue to do it if we cared. This thread is about who smokes in their cars... not telling us we shouldn't smoke at all.

Take it how ever you want, but I've read some of your post in the street racing section.

Valve seals are a pretty easy fix though.

That's not what I meant... the valve seals are fine. One of the owners in it's past was a smoker, you could smell it faintly in the car when I got it and it had been sitting on a dealer lot untouched for six months.

As for the replacement parts, I don't plan on wrecking it anytime soon. And I'm not selling it.

haha, freedom? ya, ummm, have you read and actually understood the constitution lately? there is so much crap in there, like freedom of speech, its not like you can go and say anything you want.

as for smoking, **** that, why waste your money and health on something that does nothing for you? its a waste and everyone knows it, its just a nice plot that the companies came up with so they can get you addicted and then they will make a huge amount of money!

You may have read it but would guess by that comment, you don't understand what you read. You can say anything you want, where ever you want to say it. I can call you an idiot and that is my right to do so. You may get mad and come back with something but there is nothing you can do about it.

Thank's for the lecture, Dad. I smoke like hell in my car and truck. The car is better because of that great Third Gen flat dash we have. Throw a pack of smokes and a zippo on the dash and you can always find them. I also like to put mine by the shifter when it is in drive they fit in front of the shifter and it holdes them there. Just one more of thoes things in the constitution you call crap. My car, my lungs, my life, MY RIGHT.

My car, my lungs, my life, MY RIGHT.

you can not tell someone to kill someone, or say something that would pose an immediate threat towards the government -- right there i proved you wrong. i am also NOT dissing our country or anything.

and for the dad part, i did not tell you to do anything or tell you not to do anything, did i? all i said was it does nothing to help you live and the cigarette companies are making alot of profit off of your health!

and i did not specify anything that i called "crap" i could of only of been point to one thing, you don't even know

also, when ever i put something on my dash, it flies off when i drive am i doing something wrong? or it is just the perfect weight of the "pack of smokes and a zippo" haha j/k but nothing ever stays up there

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

This thread was a loaded gun from the very start....

The addicted smokers who believe it is their right, to inflict lung cancer on those who don't smoke.....

VS

The non-smokers who know it is an ADDICTIVE, cancer causing, life killing machine.

I think it is hilarious to see a line of smokers at a business, where the business does not allow smoking inside.

I see them lined up under the 6" roof ledge outside, lined up along the wall......in 40 degree weather....Pouring down rain (or ower temps & it snowing)......Trying to suck down their cancer stick during their 15 minute breaks at work! "I can quit any time I want to......"

And that's sad because I thought this would be an interesting thread. Can't you people be civil and respect each others choices? I'd like to not have this thread locked. So please, if you're going to post, make it appropriate, don't lecture us, and respond to the question that was asked. Thanks to you all, and the mods.

Since this thread has gone so far off topic I will add to it again. Saying thoes things is not what would be the problem. The actual actions to go with them would be the issue. It's called conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to over throw the government. Neither of thoes things are protected by the constitution. The words can't be held against you unless they find some reason to think you were serious. At that point, your right to remain silent might be a better choice than you right to free speech.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I have smoked in my 83 T/A more than once.. Windows down and t-tops out... I refuse to use the factory ashtray... I do have a ashtray I use.. but not the factory one.. the way I look at it.. Burt smoked in the most famous Trans Am. maybe not the best choice in life... but its not as bad as drinking and driving.. which I'll never do..

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I smoked for 20 years and gave it up 2.5 yrs ago (yahoo!!). IF I was still smoking I would smoke in my car BUT with the windows down and would use a bottle of water for my ashtray (try it! That way you dont have to litter and dont have ashes all over your car plus it smells alot less).

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I think smoking is pointless. If you are trying to be cool you are cool enough with your thid gens. Anyways I never wanted to be like anyone else or do what anyone else was doing my moto is live your own life and **** what everyone else is doing. Just my two cents.

You dont need a cup holder! Its a bottle--put the lid on!! Besides I wouldnt want to look at it--put that sucker in the console when not in use!
That is seriously what I used for an ashtray and Im telling you it works--your car wont smell and you will have very few ashes in the car (and no ticket for littering).

I love my mom too BUT she is asking you for a FAVOR to borrow YOUR car. My only condition would be that she not smoke in it. How can she consider that "telling her what to do" when she is asking a favor?
Step up here. You shouldnt have to deal with that!

I do. With the way prices are getting, I wont be much longer. Doesnt matter what car Im in, I ALWAYS have the window all the way down and I never burn anything. Also, I think it is pretty disrespectful to say its "trashy"

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

My brother smoked in my previous car (89 V6 Firebird) and for some reason not too long after the headliner started dropping on the pass, side.. Then the middle.. Then it was a loose sheet..

I don't smoke, just tires.
