No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your car?

I can only assume that an overwhelming majority of third gen owners are not the original owners of the cars. Unfortunately for those of us who appreciate the cars, many of them are beaten, trashed and disrespected horribly. On top of that, let's face it, the cars are approaching 20+ years old, so they've probably had a lot of owners who left a lot of things, hopefully accidentally, in the car.

The reason I bring this up is when I bought my '91 z/28, there was this really loud rattling coming from inside the drivers door whenever I hit a bump. Not even a rattling, more of a thumping noise. It wasn't causing any harm, and I was busy with school and work, so I let it rattle it's little brains out for about a month until yesterday I finally had a nice day and some free time to pull the door panel off and find out exactly what on earth was making that noise.

Well...here it is :

it's a solid steel coil spring. Weighs almost 3 pounds. I have no idea what it is/where it came from, as I've never seen one inside a third-gen door before between owning 3 and junkyard diving countless times. The only thing I can equate it to is one of the springs that older cars used to hold the hood open.

Well anyways, since I've made this astoundingly odd discovery, I was just wondering if anybody else has ever found anything weird in their third gen.

edit - crap, I made a typo in the title.

That's what I thought, but it's waaaaaaay too big. I have pretty big hands, the coiled part is about 3/4 as tall as a canned drink.

Window works fine, powered window, it's a big sluggish but it's just a weak motor.

Ha, I know the feeling, mine is currently bolted in the down position until I can find a motor that isn't absurdly expensive.

I feel your pain man, I feel it.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c

i found about a pound and a half of dirt, dust, and sand in mine when i got it...
the prev owner must have never vacuumed.... ever!

i also found a set of dice with "naughty" things written on one and various body parts on the other.

lets see...

i found some MAGIC cards (dungeons and dragon type stuff) a few MAGIC dice, a 4 in one cigarette lighter receptacle splitter, im sure there is more that i am forgetting...

in a 2nd gen transam my stepdad got to part out i was trying to remove the back seat when my finger pricked something sharp... turns out it was a hypodermic needle

that'll scare you good!
i got checked and i didnt manage to contract any diseases from it but wow...

oh, i almost forgot,
when installing my B&M shifter, i found a joint under the console.
no, i didnt smoke it.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c

Not anything the previous owner left behind, but, while driving at highway speed a mouse climbed out of the de-froster vent, scooted right in front of me and stuck its head out of the side window like a dog!!! I know a grown man shouldn't be afraid of a little mouse but I almost $hit. I slammed on the brakes and he turned and went back down the vent. I was on my way to golf league so I turned around and took a different vehicle and set a trap in the Camaro. After golf checked the trap and there he was. I think he must have been in my golf bag which was sitting on the garage floor until just before leaving.

I found a roach in the ash tray, too bad it was old and dried up.

Found a 10 year old expired drivers license under the back seat.

I've already covered this, it's not. First bit of evidence is that mine is still on there, and this is larger than that spring, significantly.

When I pulled my interior apart I found that there was a hole rusted out of the drivers side wheel well that had been plugged with an old, wet and moldy flannel jacket.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c

I found about $10 in change under the carpet that previous owners had donated towards new carpet... I guess they felt obligated after jacking it up so bad.

I also found the most previous owners credit card under the rear passengers seat. (I cut it up of course)

Lipstick, a dru hill cd (also got cut up) Eye liner hair clips/bands... you would not believe what kind of random weird crap is under your carpet (Unless of course your the original owner)

Mind you this car was sold to me by a woman who said it was overheating and she couldn't figure out why... Paid $1000 took it home and replaced the fan motor $75 so you can imagine there is a lot of random misplaced female whichamathings I have removed from the vehicle.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c

I bought my 91 Z-28 from the original owner. it had a rebuilt 305 and all that jazz. well the reason she was selling it because it was overheating and the timing was a little off... so i replaced the fan relays and the thermostat and adjusted the tiing and got this car from her for about $1500. but i found a $120 Nixon watch and about 10 in change. and a bunch of leaves.. like a whole tree under the hood... I stole it from the lady.. hehehe

Not me but an old co-worker I used to work with bought an 86 iroc from a police auction and a couple of months after owning it he wanted to find out why his blower is running but nothings was coming through the vents. He took the air box apart and found a brick of cocaine. He immediately called the police but man I'd be freakin out.

Are you crazy? I would have sold it and made a pretty penny. Which would have gone straight to the car, so it makes it okay...

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c

i got a kinda weird one, when my dad and i were putting in a new door lock in on the drivers side. we took the panel off and inside the armrest we found 2 baby rats or possibly squerrls that i beleive were just born because they weren't hairy yet. so i haven't seen bigger rats yet which i guess is good. it was a little funny because the first thing he said was "Don't tell your mother or she'll never ride in the car again,"

I hear that man, I switch between body work and interior reconditioning. Some of the stuff is...I can't even explain it.

Probably the weirdest thing I found, a brand new car, fresh off the truck, 2 miles on it, plastic wrapped on the inside still. There was a womans black leather glove (with fur around the cuff) in the trunk.

I just kind of stared blankly at it.
