Need 3rd geners opinion

Hey guys, I am trying to restore my 87 iroc to original as possible, and i needed a mint shifter plate for my year and had alot of trouble locating one with all white lettering intact, (automatic overdrive) i am sure you know what i mean. Well i had an opportunity to by a mint shifter plate but it was on a console with a mint clock in it and the seller would not sell shifter plate seperately, so i bought the clock console thinking i could probably sell the console. Well the clock kinda grew on me and being that they only made around 800 in 85 and then stopped, i guess because most camaros where equipped with am/fm digital clocks then. The other problem is my original console has the rpo sticker in it and i would have to try and remove it without destroying it and install it in the clock console. I guess my question is i am trying to build an original iroc for 87 but i really like the clock because of the rarity of the clock and plus it looks great, should i try and remove the sticker in my original console and use the clock console, or do you think this will ruin the originality when i bring it to shows. Thanks for your opinion, and i hope i didnt bore you.

Do people actually look in the center console at the sticker? Also do whatever you think looks best. I understand the whole making it look good for the show but after everything is said and done the only thing that matters is what you think looks good.

Thanks for your opinion keegan84. I thought having the original rpo sticker was important and would bring more originality to it, and maybe value, but i dont think i would ever sell the car.

Re: Need 3rd geners opinion

If your restoring your car the most important thing in your car as far as originality is that RPO code. You need it to restore that car to it's original GM dealer order. You may try to get an original window sticker or build sheet from GM Archives, but I don't know how to do it with a Chevy, but I would assume you can.I did it with my 86 TA through PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) so I'm sure Chevrolet has one.
I'm sorry,I thought you were cutting your console to accommodate the clock.you can install that clock console but don't get ride of the original console, keep it and put it away,it is part of that car.

Re: Need 3rd geners opinion

Hello ms87iroc!!

If your worried about the value of your car, why would you put a clock in it that doesn't belong in it??

You can change out anything that you want to, but always keep the old parts to replace, if you sell it, as your tastes might not be the other persons cup of tea!!

As for the originality of the car at the car shows, if you require the RPO sticker to "prove" the car at a car show, you should leave the console as it was originally, without a clock!!
