Easiest way to take off door panel?
I have to fix the locks on my camaro. Well just the drivers side lock. It doesnt work with the buttons or the key but it does with the slider switch. Is there any easy/Safe way to take off the door panel and fix the lock?

when you get to the plastic molding that runs across the top of the door, don't twist it or pry it, just give it a firm bump with the base of your hand in an upwards, diagonal direction

Re: Easiest way to take off door panel?
here's a video that might help you some....

just ignore the part about the putty knife, us a real panel removal tool if you want to protect the cardboard. The way he does it is very sloppy. It also looks like he twists the upper plastic covering so much he actualyl breaks it, but it could have been broken already.

This is the second video I've seen of Mike taking things apart and using the incorrect tool. I don't think I'll follow any of the steps he's providing. The first one he used a putty knife to release the weatherstripping at the B pillar and used the body to pry it off. I'm not interested in scratches to my car!!!
To remove the door panel, you need to remove the screws he shows. Be careful when removing the plastic panel surround at the door handle. I think he broke that piece when he took it off because mine doesn't separate like that. If you use a putty knife as he shows, you will rip the lock tabs right out of the door panel or you'll break the tabs and you won't get a tight fit when you put it back together. The correct tool is a panel popper that grips the tab and pulls it straight out by the tab, not the cardboard. The top black piece is supposed to be attached to the panel with speed nuts, so do not pull the panel down and out like he did. You need to pull the bottom of the panel out to 30-45* angle, push in at the top towards the window channel and lift up. The top black piece locks onto metal tabs in the door itself and those need to be released. Be careful and take your time if you want to keep what you have!!!
