5th Gen SS steering wheel in a 3rd Gen Z28
Would a 5th gen steering wheel be a possible and easy swap into a 3rd Gen Z28? I would like most if not all of the accessories to work as well; things like cruise control, CD player controls, horn, and what ever else the two cars have in common. My 91 Z28 does already have cruise control and still has the original Delco CD player and it works.

No idea if the steering columns are close enough for this to be a fairly painless installation, but overall I doubt it. I suspect that they've changed enough over the years that you'd have to fab up some sort of adapter.
As for the controls working, no way. The thirdgen is not equipped to accept any of those signals. With an aftermarket radio, you could buy an adapter to get the radio controls to work. Since the GTAs came with some radio controls on the steering wheel, you're talking about some fairly complicated conversions. I believe that the GTA radio accepts a single-wire pulsed input, not a discrete input for each control. Likewise, I'm sure the 5th gen wheel is designed to feed a CAN bus input. Getting these to play nice together is going to require some real engineering. I suppose it may be possible to bypass the CAN Bus protocol by directly accessing the switch contacts and taking that into whatever type of conversion circuit you'd need to stimulate the pulsed input of the radio. Any of the vehicle controls like cruise would require a lot of modification to work, since none of those controls in a thirdgen were designed to be operated from a secondary switching source. The horn should be simple to wire up tho!
