Advice on trim removal
My 86 IROC T-Top is missing all the interior roof trim. This week I'm going to a salvage yard which has an 87 IROC T-Top which hopefully has some usable trim.
Any advice on how to remove the trim from the doner car is appreciated. Tricks, tools, etc. Thanks.

Plastic wedge/ trim removal tool and make sure all the screws are out holding the trim in place. I find the older cars aren't as bad as the newer ones but if it doesn't feel like it is wanting to come off double check all retaining clips or screws. Some trim requires more effort than others for removal.

Start with the piece covering the rear portion of the head liner ( I believe 5 phillips screws) and then work your way down. You might possibly need to remove the rear seat bottoms to get one of the screws in the lower B pillar plastic.
If anything feels like it ain't coming out, then stop and check for screws/clips. I find these cars pretty simple as far as taking the interior out.

Remember this is all old plastic. Take your time and don't force it.

Take a cordless drill and some sharp 1/8" drill bits. I've had to leave many good interior parts(door sills especially) on cars at the yard cause the screws were rusted and the heads just stripped right out when I put a screwdriver in them.

Will you pull the headliner too ? If so, be very careful with them, even more if they're for T-Tops. There are a couple plastic clips on the front that are very fragile, and held into small metallic rail that will tear off the backing material if you're not careful.
Once the headliner is freed from the rear plastics and the roof light, you have to gently slide it right so the clips come out of the roof (there are T shaped holes there, they act as rails for the clips).

I didn't even know there was a headliner in a T-Top! I'm going to take a picture of my interior and see if you guys can give me an idea of what is missing. Thanks

There was, but it won't be there now.
Best advice I've seen here is bring something to grind off the screws in the lower panels line dour sills. No other way to get them off.

Well, I have to say I feel a bit like an idiot. After looking at pictures I now realize that I have all the trim - it's the headliner which is missing!

Yeah, that's what I thought. Saw a good video about removing the head liner so putting it back in won't be too tough - I hope.
