Re: Carpet from Stock Interiors
If your carpet is in good physical condition you can dye it too. I dyed the seats and carpet in my '88 GTA from gray to black for about $20.
I removed the carpet, cleaned it really well, and then sprayed it with Rit dye. You can find it at almost and grocery store or wal-mart type store. It's actually used to dye clothing so it works real well on any type of fabric.
Mixed it up in a gallon pump type sprayer and sprayed it on until it was saturated. Let it dry and then I washed the carpet again with clean water a couple of times. Did the seats the same way.
Word of caution though this stuff will dye everything it comes in contact with. By the time I got done my lawn was black in places as was my driveway lol! Worked great though and never bled onto anything once it was dry.

my carpet has tears in it, so i dont think its saveable. my hatch carpets fine though. i dont think it would be hard to get a black carpet and dye my hatch carpet the same black would it? i mean.. its black.

It's not hard at all. Just like the interior plastics in your other thread it is just time consuming. I have seen people use the same vinyl and fabric coating to do the seats, but when I tried it it made the seats feel weird.
Also I have never dyed carpet other then gray to black so I don't know how any other color carpet would turn out going to black.
