Passing Texas Emissions with an LT1.

Im trying to get the ball rolling on my LT1 swap into my 87 Camaro and am trying to pick out some headers. Now, I know the LT1 shorties and LT's wont fit, but what if I went with a third gen LT, say Hooker Super Comp's? They do not have the AIR fittings but would it still be possible to pass emissions without the AIR? Seeing as though the emission tests only get harder to pass every year, would the LT1 third gen not have an advantage? Because in 1987(the year of my car) the test wasnt as strict as present day? I dont know, something to think about. Has anyone tried this and passed? Let me know.

I think this question might be better asked on the regional board as most people here aren't familiar with Texas as much as you aren't familiar with NY laws but if all emissions equipment is in place and you find a sticker from an LT1 you should be able to pass. With a cat and emissions crap you should also pass a sniffer. If they require CARB numbers then you're going to be in trouble.

I passed the Houston area emissions with my LT1 with LT4 heads, intake, Hotcam, headers, no EGR or AIR, and a new cat. you should be fine.

When I had my hotcam, I passed wisconsin im240 emissions without the airpump or air tubes.I also got rid of the egr. basically a well tuned small cammed car should pass as long as you are using a good cat.
Hope this helps.
