Wiring up the LT1

I have the LT1/T56 in the car, and Im about to venture into the wiring. First and foremost, where did you mount the computer?, I've seen it on the passenger side, where the coolant resevoir is, but I dont want to remove that. I dont think it will reach the stock location although I would like it to. So where did you mount yours? Also, where are the wires located that I have to splice? On the LT1 harness and on the car. I just purchased a VATS disabler and it should come in soon. I think that's all I have for now. I'll keep you posted. I hope to finish very soon.

i think the LT1 F-body wiring harness could allow it to be put in the thirdgen stock location but I haven't heard of it done yet. I've never seen it mounted where the coolant res is, I would like to see that. C220, C230, and C210 and the power wires will be the ones to splice, maybe more? It depends on how your doing the swap. Shbox.com has wiring diagrams and pinouts of what each of those connectors have. Shbox has wiring for f-body LT1's, may have to get a chiltons or haynes manual from your local auto store for other model LT1s.

He may be talking about where mine is mounted at, I built a frame and put it beside the coolant tank between it and the alternator

I put mine in the rear right corner of the engine compartment, laying horizontal tucked up next to the blower fan. There's just enough room so it doesnt hit the hood, and it hides the wiring mess that I have under it

I mounted mine in the car about where it is stock, I used velcro on the pcm and some in the lower kick panel and you will never know its there. Have the main harness running under the a/c box and blower into the car, Still working on the swap but the harness looks really clean.

Mine is where the stock coolant reservoir was. I used the plastic bracket from the 4th gen, screwed it to the sheet metal in two places, and made a small standoff to support it in a third. Stock LT1 harness reaches this location with no trouble.
