LS1 Vss Speedo question

LS1 Vss Speedo question
If I remember correctly the optical vss on a 89 camaro outputs 2000 pulses per mile square wave? And the pcm for a ls1 m6 requires a 17 pulse / rev sine wave input from the stock vss? So I am not able to connect the vss wires from the original ecm to the new ecm directly? I will either have to get rid of the cable drive off of the t56 and go back to the stock 17 tooth reluctor wheel. Or install a gear driven vss. Both of these require the use of a autometer speedo. Is there any way to swap faces from the stock camaro speedo to a firebird speedo or a later model f-body?

I have been trying to figure this one out also. I don't want to use a converter box for $300, and I really want to keep the stock gauges.

you can just set the LS1 computer up for the correct pulses per mile.
and while you're at it, set the LS1 computer tach output to match your tach... they're both adjustable.
you can set them yourself in HPtuners/EFIlive/ect... or have the tuner do it for you.
