more LT1 wiring questions
i read that most of the wire splicing would be at the C100(bulkhead connector) and the C207. so, what about the wires going to the origional ECM...do i need to make any connections there?
i've been using the LT1 wiring for dummies as a guide and i've only found a few wires going to the bulkhead and the C207...but i've found most at the origional ECM.
also, where exactly is the C207...i've been looking at the pinout diagrams only.
thanks,
jimmy

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
The C207 is on the passenger side under the dash. Also called an 15-way I/P Harness connector.
Good luck,

thanks jay,
are there any wires that need to be connected where the origional ecm was....the wires that went directly from the location to the ecm? like fuel pump relay, diagonastic request signal, VSS, etc. that need to go to the LT1 ecm?

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
Jimmy,
I connected...
Fuel pump relay @ C100(Bulkhead connector) via Grey wire
Diagnostic Request @ C207(Pin E) via Black & White Wire
VSS, I still don't have working yet.
Actually, I only made about 5 connections @ the C207.
Hope this helps,
Jay
Just be sure to always check your wiring diagrams before you connect anything and never just do anything based on what someone said.

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
thanks for the help,
the main problem i have is the diagrams i have for the c100 and c207 are not very percise...the fuel pump wire at the c100 just says fuel control...and there is another that says the same...so that explains some of my confusion....
does anyone know where to get good diagrams from??

I just used my chiltons manual. Some of the other guys should be able to help you out, though.

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
Wiring was different between years of 3rd gens. '87 wiring is different than '88-'89 wiring which is different from '90, and '91-92 was different as well. If you can, goto a local Pontiac dealer and see if they have a service manual for the car, or get one from Helms. Best way to figure it out.

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
i've noticed that they are different...i have the diagrams for a '89 and even those are a little different. i'm going to be starting the swap this friday, but i just don't have the wiring completely figured out.
heres the diagrams:
http://www.austinthirdgen.org/module..._1989_C100.gif
http://www.austinthirdgen.org/module..._1989_C207.gif
i know i have 18 wires going to the engine harness connector side.
1. what pins am i going to be connecting to out of these diagrams?
2. is the origional ECM removed?
3. where are all the connections going to be made at? C100, C207, and where else?
if anyone can help, please do.
thanks,
jimmy

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
1: looks like D6, C5, F4, F5, and G4 on the C100 (if they're the same). Pin B, Pin D and could be C E or F, best way to find out which one the check engine light goes to is pull the cluster and trace it out. Then trace out that connection to the C207.
2: Pull the original, it's not needed anymore.

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
Klortho,
i've been using the LT1 wiring for dummies thread....from what i see, there are 26 wires that need to be connected to something...the C210, C220, C230, and C100. I dont have a underhood fuse block because i understood that i can do without it....but should I start thinking about getting one?
when you say C5, do you mean B4? Is G4 for fuel pump motor feed or fuel pump relay control? also, where does the other connect to?
thanks,
jimmy

Re: more LT1 wiring questions
I used the underhood fuseblock, kept all the plugs on my LT1 harness. I ment E5, not C5. G4 should be the one that goes back to the fuel pump.
