The said list will be updated as the project moves along. This car is an 89 Camaro RS that originally had a TBI 305 and 700R4. Currently it has a dilapidated and non-running 4 bolt 350ci small block from the late 70s. The cam was too big, the pistons cracked and broken, and a whole lot of rust. The reason for this swap is power and efficiency, something my planned 383 surely wouldn’t be able to accomplish (all of which is for sale).
I started out by cleaning, inspecting, and prepping the short block for my new, shiny, super pimp, L92 heads. The Cometics I chose are 4.030 x .030 to give me ~9.6:1 SCR and a DCR of ~8.3 with the LS7 cam advanced 4*(depends on if i get an adjustable timing set). I decided to stick with the stock lifters for the time being as I am not going to rev the **** out of this setup. In the future the Katech CTS-V.R lifters will be used because they are good to over 8500 RPM. The valve train setup still needs to be completed.. Go figure that advances in the internal combustion engine make certain tools obsolete.. more importantly… spring compressors. I had to buy a new compressor because the offset rockers will not allow safe use of the Crane compressor. Oh well, huh?
Here’s a picture of the heads torqued down in their new home(85ft/lbs for the big bolts, 29ft/lbs for the small bolts):

Currently the intake is sitting bolted atop the engine. I am still waiting for the TB and a few various parts. The intake’s flow is on par and past that of the FAST 90mm intake setup so you can see the huge cost advantage in this setup. Now, the stock LS1 fuel rails can be used on the L76 intake with minor modifications. The mounting brackets have to be bent to match the bolt pattern and spacers be bought or made. The Delphi injectors I am using will need bigger o-rings because the stock injector bores are bigger than usual:

i have a thred on this about people using the l92/l76 combo maybe you can post a little more in that are since i think your the only one on TGO so far with the set up. And can lay down first hand experience with the parts. from what i understand though the l92 heads wont work on an ls1/ls6 type block due to bore size..... i'm not familiar with the iron blocks i'm guessing it has a 4inch bore or can be bored to that much?

Re: My Swap: Step by Step
Yeah, I'm curious too. I've been thinking about an LQ4 swap with L92 heads, and voila! Here's somebody doing it. Now that you can get the L76 intake package from GMPP with a throttle body, injectors and rails for $500, the L92 heads look even more appealing. Better yet, SDPC has a set of L92 heads that are modified to run up to .600 lift for an extra $100/each.
I do have a couple questions if you don't mind:
What items do you need to change in order to use the LQ4 in the car? Does the oil pan fit? What about accessories? Do they all fit or do you have to use f-body accessories?
