can an lt1 get to much air?

i was just wonderin if an lt1 can get to much air cause i raced a friend(00' ws6 full bolt on) before i made my high flow lid from a dig and i beat him by a good 4-5 lengths and from a roll it would be about even, and i raced him after the new lid and he beat me by about 1 1/2-2 lengths from a dig but i beat him from a roll ,i also noticed when we went from a dig that my car was kinda lagging from 2500-4500rpm and then it would come alive, but when we went from a roll i was already @ about 4500 when we took off so it didnt lag and i would put multiple lengths on him, anybody ever had this problem after changing a cai?if anybody could throw me some suggestions i'd really appreciate it!

Re: can an lt1 get to much air?

Do you have any form of wideband o2 sensor? I bet you changed so much with the lid that it has thrown your tune off down low. I would check into getting a good wideband (if you don't have one) with a good gauge (not that light show autometer one) and then investing in a data cable for a laptop. Download the tuner cats software and start learning. I bet you will be pleastantly surprised how much you can gain over your mail order tune if you can get it just right.

Its complicated. Take your time and read as much as you can and it won't be terrible.
