T56 swap, fabbed x member looking for a measurement
I dropped this into the Fab board but thought maybe someone here has the answer.
I've made a custom X member instead of buying the proper one for a t56 swap into my 89 TA. Just wondering if anyone has a measurement of where the tailshaft or soemthign should be from the body? I think I have mine sitting too high up, although it appeared to be eyeball level. Going to get the car in the air tonight, would be nice if someone already crossed this path and remembers where the trans should sit.
Thanks

Put the car on stands and set the crank centerline to 0* +/- 2*. Ideally you want the balancer ever so slightly lower than the rest
You must reset the pinion angle after moving the crossmember around

Thanks, never realized it was such a big deal.. I'm getting a new ring and pinion shortly to replace the noisy set I have now which I've put up with since I bought the car. Maybe I should swallow my pride and order a xmember from Spohn. Only reason I didn't was because at the time I was on a budget and shipping is a killer to where I am.. I'm going to check to see how close I was just the same lol..
Thanks

Buy a magnetic angle finder and build your own, they arent very complicated
