Lsx swap questions
Hey guys have been trying to find some small info that have not found out what im looking for, anyways
back story of my 84, started as a 89 rs, which needed alot of body work but had all the goodies 5 speed swap and kits/rims, but my buddy had one am 84 6 auto, bought it for 500 and made a good car of the 2, but having end on end issue with sbcs... havent had a good one yet but the 350 i have started smoking on me so im wondering
found a 6l vortec for 700 complete 140k on it,but my question is, looking into a k member swap, but would my stock k member with truck mounts work? i can get the ones with the 6l off the trucks k member, or would i have to modify my k member in anyway, such as drilling holes or cutting for clearence, and the other question is,
i have been looking into the carb swap but what kind of wiring would i need? kinda a noob question but i take it the same stuff that my 350 ran off of wouldnt work? alt and starter wiring and old distributer stuff?
sorry alot for 2 simple questions but i wanna make sure i feel condifent on this build

Re: Lsx swap questions
Check out the LTx/LSx subforum at the top of the page. Then look over the LS1 swap sticky. Youll find those and info about the wiring for EFI or carb swaps. Personally Id go with EFI on the engine designed around EFI, but it's your choice

Re: Lsx swap questions
i second the EFI notion as well - a bit more wiring headache up front for a lot more benefits in the end. You're going to need a few parts from an fbody setup to get the truck motors to fit in a 3rd gen, but everything's covered in the LSx swap forum.
i would love to get my hands on a 6.0, especially for that price. I think I may end up selling the LS1 longblock I've got in storage to put towards some bigger cubes....

Moved this to that subforum (not sure why it's so hard to find...).
Can't imagine being able to use the truck engine mounts.

Re: Lsx swap questions
truck mounts definitely a no-go. cheapest route would be 1" setback swap plates, but that will rule out doing a stock a/c setup.
