LT1 and Stock thirdgen Cruise Control Unit, Can it be done?
My dad has a 92 Camaro that we put my old LT1 in and and we are now wondering if it is possible to retain the use of the stock cruise control on a LT1 swap? The motor we have is a 93 and the transmission is a 700-R4 and not electronically controlled. I am also running a 93 throttle body, stock TV cable and stock TPI throttle cable. I am not opposed to trimming the cruise control unit to make it work. If it is possible what wires need hooked up as if I remember correctly there is a wire in the C207 plug for cruise, but other than that I am not sure about it.

Re: LT1 and Stock thirdgen Cruise Control Unit, Can it be done?
well the only thing I had trouble when setting mine up was changing the speedo signal from 4000 ppm to 2000 ppm that the cruise control brain wants to see.
I used one of those converter boxes with the dip switches. It works, but it isn't the greatest. I'd rather go with the later model eletric cruise setups that use the 4000 ppm input signal like I used in my LS1 swap.
I think ghettocruiser wrote a nice deal on how to to wire it up on LS1tech

You wired something very wrong
2000ppm signal is fine even with the 4000ppm input. The cruise head may think you're rolling at warp speed but doesnt seem to care. All it cares is that you set the speed to X and it will give/let off throttle to maintain X speed. What that number is is irrelevant
