Re: Differeces in the lt1 92--97
Corvettes are usually rated higher, even when the mechanics didnt change. Their suspension upgrades and weight loss compared to a F/B-body make them faster in all cases so people dont dispute the rated output very often
From a swap point of view, all are pretty much the same. B-bodys got iron heads and torque based cam, F/Y-bodys got alum heads and a higher revving cam. Beyond that, no real improvement, so pick the engine that suits your budget better. I would avoid the 92-93 control system/ECM, but the 92-93 engines are just as good as the later versions
Accessories are unique to each of the 3 chassis, but all fit a 3rd gen fine. F and B-body's are extremely close, but none of the parts interchange. Think of them as all or nothing. The exception is the water pump, which any WP can fit with any accy set
Notable differences are mostly physical. Corvettes had fuel fittings on the pass side, F/B-bodys on the drivers side. 92-93 intakes/rails did not have the front crossover. F/B-bodys grouped the accy's mostly on the pass side, Y-bodys on the drivers side. 92-95 control systems are OBDI, 96-97 OBDII and came equipped with crank sensors and additional emissions equipment
None are deal breakers for swaps. Grab one and drop it in
