Dyno Results are in!!

Finally had my car dyno-tuned yesterday and I couldn't be any happier. This whole time I just been driving around town, I had a bad ignition coil so was only on 7 cylinders. My tuner fixed every things and worked his magic. This car is a totally different animal now on the street

It made 419rwhp/398rwtq.

What cam was that? Thems big numbers for a cam only bolt-on LS1.

It's the Torquer 2 cam. Everything else stock with the expect of all the bolt-ons

Yeah that 10 bolt is going to take a beating lol. I talked to my tuner and said he can set me up with a Ford 8.8 rear for a good price, so that may be my next step.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm happy with the numbers for such a mild cam. It is totally wicked on the street. I might want to get some 4.10's down the road to make it a little funner lol

It's the stock 10 bolt. But I replaced the diff with a Zexel Torsen one from a WS6 and put motive 3.73 gears in. So far, no problems *knock on wood*

Those are very good numbers. I don't know where you are in California but if in Southern California you need to go to the track with us the next time. It will be interesting to see what that bad boy will do.

I had a very hard time deciding between the v2 vs the 228r cam for my lq4.Mine is alot of fun and I doubt its even close to making 360rwhp compared to you bolton ls1.My 10 bolt is happy right now that I dont have sticky tire to shock it and break it..for now.How much power did you pick up from baseline pull to a tuned pull?

My only future mods to from here would be longtubes, and some head work and that should bring me over 400rwhp.Get some more vids of that bad boy going down the road/track

The drivability is awesome. It bucks a little in low gear under 1500rpms or so, but I think its cause of the Monster stage 3 clutch and stuff.

When he did a baseline pull I was only at 363rwhp. The mail-order tune that was on it before was crap and had a 12.0 a/f most of the time.

I can't even explain how much the car came alive when I took it in to have it tuned.

First off, I was driving there with a bad ignition coil, so only on 7 cylinders which "kinda" still felt like it had some power
My tuner found that issue and fixed it, now I know the car was running rich but it was just dumping fuel! It wasn't getting any leaner then 12.5 a/f which was awful. Once he dialed in the a/f to where it should be it jumped to about 396rwhp. He then did a few more tweaking and gave it some more timing and sure enough gained more from that.

So when I took it off the dyno and went for a test drive, I was like holy **** this is a whole new car!!! lol

i've got the monster level 3 also...its in or out, there is no slipping that clutch. i called the guys at monster and they said there is no "normal" break in procedure for the 3, just take it out and beat on it if its doing that. after some "town" driving in bumper to bumper traffic i generally have to take mine out and beat it like it owes me money, and it has roughly 1000 miles on it.

who did your mail order tune? i figure i've got about 30hp left in the dyno tune, but maybe i'll get more out of it if we used the same mail order tuner.

What? Everything else stock? or with a cam, what gears? what type of dyno? Mustang or Dynojet?

That's my exact combo, with the exception of a t56 and the gears have been changed from 3.27 to 3.70 since my tune and I'm nowhere near that.

Stock motor with just the ls6 intake, 3.73 gears, can't remember the longtube header brand, no cat, it was on a dynojet

Yeah that's what I was told about the clutch too. It sure is a nice product though. I've had the monster s3 on two other previous cars and loved it.

I had Mark Romans do the mail order tune. He was kinda a local guy (2hrs away) so I sent it to him. If I had to do it over, I should of saved that $125 I paid him and put it toward the dyne-tune.

I've heard the zexel units are good diffs so that's why I replaced mine. I like how it has the gears instead of clutches like other diffs.

Before when I had my 383 motor, that diff was taking a beating and always hanged. It was always the gears or axles that I was breaking

Guess I'll have to take mine over to the local dynojet, see if they can look at the tune. On a Mustang dyno, it only put 279 down. Though I figured that a dynojet would read up in the 320 range.

Thats a happy dyno or extremely uncalibrated.

Theres just no possible way a completely stock LS1 w/ every bolt-on and free mod can put down 360rwhp thru an unlocked stalled auto, LMFAO. I'd ask for a refund from the dyno-shop where that was done.

I've seen 340+rwhp with full bolt-ons, tune and with a 6-speed. But an unlocked auto? No way. There's more done to that engine then meets the eye, probably before your brother got it.

Re: Dyno Results are in!!

It's possible since the motor and Trans came from the junkyard.
It was from a 98 with unknown miles, sold as a stock engine.
My brother just dropped the drivetrain in the car, swapped the intake, and put the headers on.
I'll ask him about the stall since now that I think about it, it might have had the stock converter when he dyno'd it.
