Dorman 800-120 for 4th gen tank swap

I have been working on a 4th gen tank swap and have the tank in and working on adapting the fuel lines. I have the return line figured out but the supply line is giving me trouble. I saw on another thread to use the dorman 800-120 adapter for the nylon hose my problem is i am not sure i am getting it hooked up correctly. i shove the nylon hose into it and try to lock down the black collar but no matter what i do i can't get it to lock. I just want to make sure i am going at it correctly. other than this, its going fairly smoothly

The nylon doesn't go into the black ENd. The pump side goes to the black end. Then the nylon hose hooks to the silver side and is "heatshrinked" on. I did the same swap. you didn't get the 4th gen factory nylon lines? Wish I had pictures to help yah but right now I'm away from the fittings. You need a metal push connect line to go into the black side then flare that to hook to the factory third gen lines. They sell at auto part stores. I'm just not sure how much you have therefore its hard to judge how far you are and what intended way you want to use that dorman part.

Look up dorman 800-159. You may need a part like this to finish. This pushes into the black side and the clips grad the beaded part to seal.

Re: Dorman 800-120 for 4th gen tank swap

when you said that it doesn't clip onto the nylon i was thinking i would need something like that. i have the dorman 800-170 to hook into the 3rd gen supply lines. will i need the part you suggested for the return line as well? I have the 4th gen nylon lines that i have now cut the quick connect to fit how i thought the two parts went together. which was the silver and black connector (800-120) to rubber hose to the steel hose adapter (800-170) gah i hope i didn't screw myself over...

Re: Dorman 800-120 for 4th gen tank swap

so playing around with all the parts, i have the 3/8" over the nylon tubing and can run the 800-170 adapter to plum into the 3rd gen lines. my question is, is the nylon strong enough to clamp the rubber hose to? or will it collapse and/or leak?

OK going by that recommendation the black side goes directly to the pump outlet, you use a small section of 3/8" fuel Injection hose with proper clamps on the silver side and clamp to the supply side.

Mines different cause I used the 4th gen plastic lines to fittings I made. If you get the 4gen feed line off of pump and use a 2000 Buick century fuel filter its a direct bolt in. The full nylon line push connects to the filter and the other side screws in place of your stock filter. Thiers so many different ways to install these tanks its unreal. I didn't know they sold the push connect to flare fitting pieces. I made mine. I have a fitting kit from master cool.
