LT1 heater bypass

I have have decided to dump the heater core because the hoses are in the way of my #8 coil and I'll never drive it in the cold.

I've been trying to search for the options of either loop it or cap the pipes. With capping, is prefer to use freeze plugs so I don't have the pipes hanging out. The biggest question I have is because the bleeder screw hangs out off the top one. Removing it would make the radiator cap the highest point in the system, which is awesome. What are you opinions? If I do the loop, Should I make sure that 1way valve and bleeder are in there? If I do freeze plugs or caps, will they get blown out from unaccounted pressure?

I would probably loop it on the pump if you can. You have freeze plugs in the block keeping in the same pressure. So as long as you use the right size plugs and tap them in good you should be fine that way. Just not sure if there are issues with capping the pump on that one. I know LS you are supposed to loop it but they are just two hoses right next to each other.

Re: LT1 heater bypass

It's been a couple days since I've been on.

Thank you for the advise. I think what I'll do then is use rubber caps first and see how it goes. If they hold without issues, I'll use freeze plugs. I like the idea of simplifying the engine bay.
