Well...been a long time since I made some progress on this thing. Going to do some more intensive work on the tune after letting the thing sit for a long while. Got it to run with the blm in the ballpark, now needs more road testing. Also have everything hooked up in the engine bay. A small reservoir for the coolant recovery, a small tank for the intercooler coolant expansion. All that's left to do is get a nice switch for a manual IC pump control, that's what the brown wire is for.
Also, I'm keeping the black wheels on the TA, it needs it because of the brakes on it. I will refurbish the jongbloed wheels and put them on this car. The baer brakes will fit with 17" wheels.
also had some rotors zinc plated, these are a set of C5 rotors for the gray iroc, a set of std. rear rotors for the 11.5 pbr setup, also for the gray car and a set of j55 13" corvette c4 rotors ... as spares.

I'm 100% certain now I will run the jongbloed wheels on this car. I'm going to stick some wide rubbers on the rear and if the inner fenders need hammering so be it... with a crappy running engine with severely lacking power the tires that are on there now have no traction. I will probably delete all the decals and get some gold irocs for on the doors.
At least these wheels fit with the baer track system...due to them only being 17" and having all those bolts the clearance is not super

After installing a new timing chain/sprockets and a fresh summit el cheapo alu cast cover I figured there was no timing mark on it...have to dig up an old bolt on one I should have somewhere. Also started toying with some cog drive pulleys I still have. The set also has one for an AC comp but I have been messing with a little addition that will take the place of the AC....who needs AC anyway 
Now I have to pull the pan again and weld on an oil return.
Also, it may be a no go on the cog drive since it's a t10 type setup, probably a PITA to get a blower pulley in T10 size...if not impossible.

no updates, have to order a custom BOV spring, it's a 35mm spring and the one in there is too weak. Have to redo the exhaust because of the SFCs, no room on lift as my buddies little Nova is up there for some engine work.
As for the pulleys, they are customs stuff...forgot where I got them. I'm not even using them, they are gathering dust. There's an AC pulley that comes with them, all are blue. Complete set, WP, Crank, P.St. AC & alt.

VERY IMPRESSED!! That under carriage is cleaner than a brand new car and will last much longer than a new car. I've been finishing up my restore on my black 87 IROC and I feel like a kindergartener finishing his coloring assignment compared to you finishing up your doctorate. I have a 2nd 87 IROC that is blue that is all torn down waiting for me to decide a direction for it. You have inspired me! You are doing it right.

I also cut off half the exhaust and will have to redo it. I DID modify the mufflers so the exhaust tucks up with the SFCs in place.
In the meantime I have been working on my 82 TA but that's stalled too now, waiting on short block... so I started on my 83 stepside truck. Had to fix some rust issues from driving it half a winter here and well...the engine was not what I wanted although it did manage to destroy my TH400. Swapped for a 700R4 and did some engine work

Been a long time since I worked on this car, I have a bad habit of jumping from one unfinished project into creating another one (82 trans am) and then if I didn''t have enough yet another one (83 stepside) apart from all the other projects I still have standing... oops 
anyway... I had a major problem getting the hawks spoiler to fit. 2 of the studs don't line up the center 2. I bought a new rear hatch an sure enough it doesn't fit that one either so it doesn't fir one one for a non 3rd brake light type spoiler or one with it. Nice!
The 1st problem with the hatch was that it sticks out in the rear. The car had damage there at some point in it's part, don't know how they manage it but it's confine to the decklid (which was not original, off a berlinetta) and the rear upper part of the metal behind the lights. I have repaired all that the torn welds and the rust and sure enough the decklid still won't fit. I have a theory, and I'm not sure it's correct but I have a sneaking suspicion the factory glued these on ON the car and aligned them then. The reason is, I swapped a hatch before on a GTA and sure enough it stuck out real bad and there's not enough adjustment in the glass hinges to get it to sit flush.
So, I did what I had done before with my old hatch (discarded because prev. paint artist who messed up the fender repair and all made some nice gouges in the glass with his orbital sander) and that's removing the decklid by unbolting it all and removing the windshield adhesive between the lid and glass. This allowed me to adjust just the lid and it's perfect now, it also doesn't rub on the sides anymore.
Now or the spoiler, I cut off the center 2 studs... I will bond the thing in place anyway. After mounting I came to the realisation that the shape is not unirom it needs truimming where the side and center sections meet. Also it needs fitting in a lot o corners to make all the pieces the same size and have the contours flow. Also IMO it's hideous that the sides stick down further than the rear lights so I will cut that off. Having done quite a bit of glass work (a complete body off resto on a prev. wrecked 63 stingray over the last year or so) it won't be a problem...just a matter of time.
My car does not have rear window defogger but I couldn't find a rear here without it. Instead I will use the tracers as my antenna. I have a niofty module that can be hooked up to it and provide the signal.

Got something done again not much but still.
back on the lift to repair the last trans crossmember bolt. I had already drilled and tapped the other 3 for larger bolts but this one was good....but not for long. It's skipping threads so my remedy is, as has been with the other ones, tap for an M12 bolt. Easily done.
Then I went and started on the exhaust section that I cut off. Decided I would do sort of a boom tube again since it's easier to mount and it keeps the 2 pipes nice and stable..and it sounds good
Not completely done yet, still need to finish it all up and fab a little turn down lip on the end but this is the general idea. It slip fits into and over the other pipes. I did the slip in & over combo so I can use clamps and not have them interfere. The reduction in diameter on that one pipe is insignificant.

Must not have the same exhaust routing laws they do here in the states? Has to come out behind the furthest rear door. (for safety)

Only law here is that is has to be gas tight over it's entire length and there is some speculation about it not being allowed to end under the car but a lot of especially US cars here have drop downs before the axle. Not sure if they will appreciate the noise level. @ idle it's OK but ig you put your foot in it a little it will roar like mad...in the vid you can hear it loudly from quite far away and this is in a pretty open area.
It really is 10 lbs of poop in a 5lbs bag... I'd hate to be the on who has to cange plugs on that... oh...wait.... damn

All it needs is paint and installing the interior but I have been blowing my money on the truck and the 82 TA. A 1500HP capable 6 speed doesn't come cheap unfortunately and therefore the paint has to wait a little longer LOL

Good God man. Love your work. That grey IROC on black wheels looks amazing. I'm sure the red one is going to end up looking amazing too. Already does.
I'm curious about the fastener plating. How much prep do you do to them before you drop them off? Any? Secondly, what can I expect to pay to have that done (like the load you had done) ? Euro is fine, I'm in Europe too, just way south so I imagine it would be a little cheaper here if I can find it.

The wide body vette and the camaro are mine, the GTA, 72 trans am, the 79 Z28 and 87 vette convertible are 69Cyclones (the guy in THIS thread referred to as a rat and a scammer by some idiot)
Anyway....did some more stuff. Mocked up the front susp. & brakes. Have to install the coil springs but wanted to see how it would fit with the bimmer wheels.
This is making the brakes look a little small....hummm....maybe i should run staggered setups, 18s front 19s rear (these are 19s) and use half the set on the 88 and get some 18s for the front on both cars.

Got the wheels test fitted, swapped all studs for ARP because they are longer and stronger. Needed a small spacer shim front and rear and didn't trust stock stus (fronts were already upgraded) I will need flares in the rear, the front fender will probably massage out just fine. Thinking about cutting the wheel arches off a set of front fenders and put those on the rear. I prefer the sharp line on the fronts over the rounded rears anyway
The car will get black gold striping, a gold gas cap (billet) and gold iroc decals. I'll add some more black accents maybe paint the rear part of the spoiler black so it breaks up the red a bit.

had an idea, eyeballing the front fenders look to be the same shape as the rears. I figured, why not cut some fenders and try to graft those arches on the rear. Here's a quicky mockup. So far so good.
