88 Iroc Procharged ZZ4 !!!SOLD!!!
I bought this car from my Mother in February. It belonged to my Step-Dad who passed away last fall.
The bad:
The car recently started smoking a lot from the oil catch can (it vents into the atmosphere) (rings/valves?). I am no longer driving it. And for the rest of the bad, it started to get hard to shift into 4th (manual tranny), catalytic converter is gutted as honeycomb was broken and rattling inside, sometimes takes a few tries to get to do anything when starting (starter?) but starts easily once it does, front left tire worn on outside when I bought it (alignment done since), golfball size ding on passenger door, golfball size ding on front driver's side quarter panel, paint looks good from 20 feet but showing its age up close (lots of pits/few scratches), headliner is pulled out (needs new one), inside armrests getting loose, some interior plastic fading, dash is cracked bad (covered with new dashmat), seatbelt plastic cracked, oil pressure gauge not working (pegged after starting), ac blows but not cold. That's about it that I am aware of, trying to be honest here
.
The good:
125k miles on car
305 replaced with ZZ4 Performance 350 crate motor at 70k miles
Procharger P600B Supercharger 9psi (rebuilt 9k miles ago)
Edelbrock headers
Edelbrock exhaust
Crane Cam 1.6 Rocker Arm Set
58mm high flow throttle body
Custom intake manifold
Custom cold air cowl induction
Goodmark 4" cowl induction hood
MSD Ignition system/boost timing controller
New Ron Davis aluminum racing radiator
New front seats
New alternator
New hood struts
New wipers
CD player/amp/sub
Tinted wondows
My step-dad spent A LOT (probably too much) money on this car. He bought it for $6,000 and I have receipts for over $50,000 he spent on it (that does not include new hood, new seats, or???) In addition I have put over $1,000 into in the last few months.
The car even in its current condition has A LOT of power. My step-dad told me before the supercharger it had 400hp, and he told my brother-in-law after the supercharger that it had 550hp. I tested it on a Superflow dyno and the results were 340rwhp and 390 tq (I have the papers) and that was just before it started smoking a bunch, I believe there is more power there to be had. (edit, since gutting the failed cat it has noticeably more power)
Link to video on dyno:
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/P...-88_680182.htm

I am not really wanting to sell it, but it is going to have to sit for a while before I can get what needs fixing fixed. And I know my wife would just assume I sold it
. I am not going to list it high and try to work my way down to what I feel I need for it, I will just say I want $5,000 for it. If you are interested let me know or let me know what you think. I am not looking to part this out either.
Anything else just ask! Thanks.

May be weird, but I am sure it flows alot more air than the setup that comes on our cars...

No, custom made by Top Of The Hill Performance
Yes, and I would think better than Procharger's setup that just draws hot air from under the hood.

Re: 88 Iroc Procharged ZZ4
Is it set up for Californa type of Smog testing?
I'm also curious as to what part of Idaho you're at; (my family is all near Twin).
Are you sure you're not mistyping the $50k>??? I've put full race suspension on my IROC with a stage 3 700r4/ built up 9-bolt, handbuilt motor, custom Recaro seats, and lots of billet. I don't think I've hit much over 30k yet and most everything works including all new 4 wheel discs, A.C, virgin dash- I'm not trying to give you a bad time, just need to understand how the car, plus 50k ,plus bunches of extra parts adds up to 60 thousand dollars. My nephew wants one and I told him I'd check to see if anything was available in Idaho. Nitro

Re: 88 Iroc Procharged ZZ4
I am in Pocatello. The car may be kind of set up to pass CA smog inspection, but it will not as it sits now. Every two years he had to take it in the shop so they could do ??? to get it to pass inspection.
As for the $50k, that was over 9 years of ownership and he had everything done by the same shop. So it includes service, repair, parts, labor. I am not trying to say it has $50k in parts, and he paid A LOT in labor over the years(maybe too much).
For example the first paperwork I have on it was the motor swap, new exhaust, transmission repair, A/C repair, and some other smaller stuff. The total was $8500 in parts and $5800 in labor.
The next year he had it in to put in the supercharger, msd ignition, and some other smaller stuff. Total was $4500 in parts and $2700 in labor.
And I have others totaling $7,500....$6,200.....$3,700....$2,500.... $2,200....$3,900.....and many others for around $1,000.
I am guessing he paid way too much in labor (High-end performance shop in Cali?). I have checked into some of the parts and they seemed about right price wise, some are more now like the motor and supercharger are about $1,000 more each now.
Here is the link to the shop where the work was done:

I fired it up yesterday to try and listen to the motor, didn't hear any noise. So I drove it a few miles in town, never getting over 3k rpms. Never heard a noise from the motor.

Re: 88 Iroc Procharged ZZ4
Update:
The noise I thought was coming from the motor was the catalytic converter getting louder. The motor sounds fine. I gutted the converter last night (honeycomb was cracked/broken with loose pieces), noise is totally gone. Also, it has noticeably more power now! Must have been clogged somewhat.

Hello, I'm from Germany.
I want to buy your car but for safety reasons you have to put it for me on ebay with a 'make an offer' I will buy it for the $4500,00 and pay you the ebay costs. I pay true paypal so in a few days you'll have the money. I'll also pay the paypal costs. A shipping company will contact you and after the funds have cleared they pick up the car.
For about 6 weeks i bought from a moderator from this forum his 1983 Trans Am. Tomorrow it will arrive the harbor of Rotterdam and will be shipped.
I can give you the tread if you want.
So if you agree it's sold and I pay all the costs so you'll have the $4500,00.
Thanks

OH , I made some mistakes.
It were $11.500,00 in 2 days ,and the gentleman who sold me his stunning Trans Am was the moderator 82FirebirdTA and not 1989GTATRANSAM.
You could have done also some research................

Re: 88 Iroc Procharged ZZ4
You have a honest offer .
Without safety for me ( Ebay, paypal ) I can`t transfer $4500,00 to the U.S
You can think about it for 24 hours.
I could make a down payment.
Otherwise I let it go.

There's something wrong with 69Cyclones account, his post counter sticks @ 1 but he has more posts than that (yes, only a few but still)
He's not a scammer, he's good for his money and won't jerk you around. Ask 82FirebirdTA, luvojah or Revdoc

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. Like dyrt said your offer sounded very much like a common scam from people trying to buy items from overseas online. If you're serious, please send me a PM with the details of what you would need me to do and what you would expect. I have sold on eBay before and have a Paypal account.
Thanks,
David

This is not my thread so I will not engage you in a debate since it will only detract from the owner trying to sell his car. I am not out of line for warning a member of what looks like a scam. Which I still believe this has a good chance of turning out to be. And keep your threats of violence and profanity from your alleged friend off the board. You have only lowered your credibility.

Actually it's you who is out of line, interfering in him wanting to buy a car and then you trying to screw things up by claiming he's a scammer. Why don't you contact any of the guys mentioned above to check whether they had their money paid to them immediately? I'm sure you won't because it will prove what a fool you are for running your mouth off here.
..and profanity? woah....such profanities...unheard of!!!
Stating you don't want to get involved here possible harming the original poster trying to sell the car...if you really felt that way you shouldn't have posted in the 1st place. Then again you're probably another keyboard warrior who feels his input is needed in every thread.
Ask the moderator who bought his car here:

Yes, sold to 69Cyclone, it will be off to Germany. I have talked to 82FirebirdTA and luvofjah, both have had good transactions with him for a car and a supercharger set-up. Thanks.

Good luck w/ it. I am sure you'll enjoy it, been watchin this thread from the beginning! Unbelieveable how some people will, make bad assumptions, accusations and never even apologize or admit they are wrong!

I'm sorry I did not catch this thread when it got out of line.
Any post in the classifieds does not add to your post count, which is likely why 69Cyclone's count is lower.
Sorry 69Cyclone you got called out like that, had I seen it or it had been reported I would have removed it.
Best wishes to all.
