Some of those pictures were taken while I was in the process of restoring the plastic pieces so they look kind of awful, also the seats look brown and dirty in some of the pictures but I think that was just lighting.

I absolutly LOVE that colour, has it been repainted, it seems to look...better than some of the ones ive seen, like a slightly different green
I am thinking about getting my 92 RS painted this colour

What hood is that? I am looking for a cowl hood that has that overhang and doesn't just stop, I think when it just stoops it looks kindof silly.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
To clear things up Heritage Car-wise: RPO code ZO3 could be ordered as white w/ red stripes, black w/ red stripes, and red w/ black stripes on RS and Z's initially. Half-way in the model year, polo green w/ gold stripes (RS only) and purple haze w/ silver could be ordered. I'd love to know the numbers breakdown of the color ordered but I believe only the total is recorded.
Here is my dads ZO3 convertible w Z blisters and my '92 Quasar Blue Metallic (also new color for '92) with silver heritage stripes.
This car I saw on ebay and I'd bet is the rarest of the rare for ZO3's: Purple Haze Z28 w/ 5.7, grey leather, CD player, 4-wheel disc..etc..
I'm not an IROC expert, but I'm willing to bet this is also a rarity, I saw if in PA, it had tan leather and 4-wheel disc.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Colors were so much better in the 80s. Seems like after 91 everyone just got boring bright red, black, and white. Back during the IROC era we had the beautiful maroons and yellows and metallic blues and silvers and sunset orange metallics etc all over the place. I guess it's just a sign of the times.
My hood does that. It's a Champion Hoods and Products fiberglass hood. I think its an imitation of the Cervini hood, which is probably the best looking cowl hood you can get for these cars. It actually follows the lines of the car and whatnot. Im pretty sure that hood is a Cervinis.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Hi Jfl1960, I think it is so cool you decided to stick with the maroon color, and am glad I could help motivate you to do so Your car is coming along really nicely! My antenna was missing because I actually had that car repainted and I was still putting it back together at that point, it's got an antenna now. Also the lower red pinstripe was not stock, my dad added that to my other car way back in the day and I thought it looked nice enough to add it to this car as well. The wheels are also my original wheels from the other car in which my dad had added the red pinstripe to as well, I think the pace car wheels had the stripe. Neither of my cars came with the countour seat originally, I have a set from an later model firebird (Both contour fronts) that I was thinking of getting recovered and using for awhile but never got around to it. Lately I've been moving pieces between the cars, so the car with the Z06 wheels has all 4th gen camaro seats and the stock car got my original silver/gray interior. The car with the Z06 wheels has also been donating aftermarket suspension pieces since it is in the process of getting a LS1, C5 torque tube and transaxle assembly and tubular k member and coil overs etc.... Here are some interior shost from the car with the Z06 wheels before I moved the interior to the other car.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
The dash and center console are from a 2002 Camaro. The consoles are direct bolt in for the manual transmission cars and require you to fabricate in the 4th gen shifter on the automatic consoles. They are very easy. The dash requires you to remove the stock 3rd gen side mounts for the dash (They are spot welded on and can be removed easily), and then requires some modification of the HVAC box, you also need to trim the dash pad from the 4th gen car, making a cardboard template works nicely for this. The Pillars need to be modified, many have grafted third gen ones to the fourth gen ones which works pretty well. Wiring wise I used all of the 4th gen wiring harness, since I was running an LT1 at the time this worked nicely and allowed all of the gauges to work perfectly. Do some searching around on the forums and you can find a wealth of information and pictures on the process.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Out of the 189,747 camaros made in 1982, only 6,788 were painted in gold metallic.
I've been searching this forum, ebay, google, and a number of other places for years, and have never seen another gold one.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Got those numbers from GM and several other reliable Camaro sites and all have match so I believe the 6,788 is accurate. Gotta remember those are total of all cars manufactured 1982 and sold worldwide not just in USA. And another thing that is less than 4% of the total production run for 1982, that is a small number when you really think about it.
I personally have seen a few gold but not many.
Just do a google search for "1982 Camaro Data" and you will find this and lots more interesting info for Motor Trend magazine's Car of the Year for 1982.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Actually my car is a Canadian car too. SO if 6,788 is divided equally by 3 (sport coupe, berlinetta, and Z-28), about 2,262 Z28's worldwide were painted that color (1.2% of 189,747 total). I found a website (may or may not be a trusted source) that said about 10,000 cars were shipped to Canada. So, if 1.2% of those 10,000 cars (following the same ratio) were tossed up here to the great white north, then its possible my car is 1 of 120 canadian gold metallic cars.

No need to appologize but your thinking is right on track, don't know bout the math never checked but being in Canada yes your Gold 1982 Z28 is a low production number for 1982 and taking into consideration that a small number were delivered to Canadian dealerships that makes your very rare here for a 1982 model however I never checked the numbers for later years. My Maroon 82 Z is also a rare color for that year.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
heres mine dark green grey first year for that color, not alot around not sure about production numbers either though. yes oscar the heritage was a 92 option, all 92 camaros were 25th's but the heritage package was the striping option on the red black and white cars with color matched grilles. dont think think that any other colors had stripes, but could be wrong.
The heritage cars came in a few different colors:
white / red stripes
red / black stripes
black / red stripes
purple haze / silver stripes
polo green / gold stripes (RS only)

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
you mean like this?
I don't think gunmetal gray is such a rare color... is it? It's not original on mine, although one of the donor cars was a factory original gunmetal gray 1983 Z28. I liked the color so I ended up painting the whole car like that.
That donor Z28 would have looked exactly like this, minus the third brake light and possibly with a different interior.

Thats just fourth gen interior. Since youre new on here, look it up. Its a common Mod people do people they like the look of the 4th Generation Camaro/Firebird interiors more than Third Generation. Usually people only do the Console because the dash is difficult. But when people do decide to do it,it looks great.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
You couldn't pay me to do a 4th gen dash swap. I love the 3rd gen dash. It's a very unique look with a lot of character. The third gen interior was inspired by a learjet cockpit. I can understand if your 3rd gen dash and console are in bad shape and/or you have a 4th gen drivetrain. It kinda fits then, in a way. But the thirdgen interior seems to be of better quality to me and it looks a lot less like it was designed by committee.
4th gen seats are far superior, though.
It doesn't look bad and props to the guys that have done it... it definitely modernizes the car and the cupholders are nice. But convenience and modernization aren't necessarily my cup of tea in my 80s rattletrap.

Hey guys give me your opinion!?
My 91' Z28 is red with silver/red rims and red interior. Would a matte black paintjob look good with a black convertible roof and the red interior and the silver/red rims? I saw a picture of a matte black 3rd gen but it didn't have a convertible roof or rims like mine and it looked surprisingly good. I was told that a matte/satin black paintjob is only 150 bucks.
This is the pic: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5347740_n.jpg
Any thoughts?

I saw a picture of a matte black 3rd gen but it didn't have a convertible roof or rims like mine and it looked surprisingly good. I was told that a matte/satin black paintjob is only 150 bucks.
