Hey guys!

My names Josh, i've been lurking around the forums for quite awhile. And now that i have myself 1990 RS, (L09 mated to a 5speed, 85,000 original miles all for a small chunk of change, $1300) i wanted to introduce myself and say whats up! I've got big plans for her, so that being said, heres where i'm at right now. She came with a carbon fiber cowl hood and black outs. I just came up on a deal from kragen for a Grant Formula steering wheel. Normally $175 from the manufacturer but on clearance for $40 (including shipping)! In the coming weeks i plan on giving her a new pair of headlights that seem pretty popular around here, E36 halo conversion and maybe a new "paint job", matte black vinyl wrap!

Anyway, heres a pic of her currently. Hope to get more acquainted with you guys and hear your feedback.

Not that i'm aware of. Im kind of torn about engine work. It almost seems like it would be more worth it if it were a better motor. Id rather upsell to an iroc, a Z, or an LS then build from there. But if you know any cheap/basic mods to increase power, id more than willing to give them a shot

First mod should be an EBL Flash setup to get a firm understanding of how to give the engine in the car what it wants... in terms of gaining any real performance out of it. Once you mastered tuning, the sky is essentially the limit.

Looks good dude i would keep the paint and throw some different rims on it. It would make a huge difference.

Im not to familiar with all the engine stuff but whats up with the LO9, is that like special order?

I checked the Tech Data and they only came with the LH0 and the LO3?

Looks decent for the price paid.

Please don't wrap it in vinyl (for the price it would cost to do it right you could just get a decent paint job), and please don't put those hideous E36 lights in the car. They look great in E36s, since they were designed for them. They look like crap in thirdgens.

To get a little more power, add an open element air cleaner instead of the snorkel, and bump the timing to 10* advanced.

Im also heading out to get some 16" IROCs (with tires) tomorrow morning. He only wants $280 for the full set which sounds fantastic. We'll see if theyre actually worth it though.
Ideally, I'd like to powdercoat them black or something similar with a flat look to it. Going for that dark, bad ***, knight rider-esque look if you couldnt already tell

I decided to invest my money in this baby for sure. Gonna start saving for when the tranny goes out. I figure a nice small block crate motor with go a long nicely with the new trans any suggestions on engine to swap in? LTs, LSs, other? And where to get the best deal..?

Cool car man it looks clean. nothing wrong with having a nice weekend project thats what im always doing every weekend, keeps me out of trouble. Keep us posted on your progress.

I can lol, if you only paid $90 for the product to wrap your car you are better off leaving it as is and invest that money in professional detail products. I am not a big fan of wrapping but hey its a new fad, what I do know is decent product for an average size car is 4 to 5 times that amount. Either way wellcome but ditch that cheap wrap before you end up blowing $90 and an entire weekend of time, just my 2 cents.

You are finding the bargains... starting with the car for $1300! My advice.... DRIVE THE CAR! It's pretty good as is. Fill the tank and keep it moving.
