Hey all!

Its come time to give my 84 Firebird a paint job; I have chosen either a red or a purple; both are pearl style colours. But I cant secide which one would go best with the black louvre on the back window.... SO.... I am leaving it up to you!

I have attached pictures of both colours so you can decide.

I am kinda partial to the red. Either would go OK with the black louvers, but with the red I know it would look good. Is it because I have a flame red metallic GTA? Maybe...

The red definitely. The shimrin or flop paints...are over done now...and ludicrously expensive and impossible to repair. Theyre kinda cliche in the streetrod world to begin with...not to mention the whole Mystic Cobra thing...and we dont have a swaybacked nag on the fropnt of our cars

Heres a word to the wise however. If youre thinking of painting this yourself...Im going to HIGHLY suggest you either A) reconsider your color palette or B) you prime the car and have a pro paint what looks more like a tri-coat (base/pearl/candied clear). If you scratch that paint...its almost impossible to match. Also, if you dont have your gun technique perfect...its going to have tiger stripes in it. I wont attempt one of these jobs yet (although I practiced on a motorcycle tank and its okay at best)

If you Do go through with this...I suggest a HIGH SOLIDS clearcoat, especially from SPI (Southern PolyUrethanes Inc). Barry there can reccomend a clear to go over ANY base you come up with. The clear is lightyears above the stuff from House o Kolor/Dupont and PPG.

go with red, that purple looks like it would belong more on one of those toyota celicas with a 5 foot tall wooden wing bolted to the trunk and stickers across the front windscreen.
